I got home from work today and was SO upset to find that someone had stolen one of my pachanoi. It wasn't a super prized specimen, as it was just the standard pc clone, but I had it for about 6 years or more. It was one of my 2 first cacti that I got.

I knew I shouldn't have put it in the back of my house near the ally, but I had repotted it and decided I wanted to put it where it would get more direct afternoon sun.

All I can say is that I hope karma is served. I really want to wish some bad juju on whoever took it, but I don't think that's the right way to be.

I just kinda feel so violated. Nobody has ever stolen anything from my yard, and now I'm worried about my bridgesii and stuff that are on my front porch.

Just had to rant and vent. I'm sure you understand.

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

Sounds like a teenager looking for a cheap high...That´s the only reason i can think of, why somebody would steal a cactus.
They may try to steal more of your cacti. If they think your garden is a place where you can get drugs for free, they´ll come back.
I would definately take some precautions.

Sorry to hear about this but im not surprised really, what did you expect by having expensive narcotic containing plants outside really?

Anyway hope he gets a really bad trip and that you can find a safe place for the rest of your collection.

I would really find somewhere else for the rest since that punk will probably tell his friends who might show up and take all your stuff.

Maybe build some kind of greenhouse that you can lock or something similar?

Those negative vibes will forever be imbued in that stolen cactus,

I'm sorry to hear about you loss, but I don't think the thief will be "enjoying" the cactus.

I'm sure you will be receiving something soon that will balance out your loss! Equillibrium!

I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. As others have said, you should probably do something to protect what you have left.

Also, harboring any hostile feelings for the individual that stole your cactus will only hurt you in the long run. It's not fun to be angry, and continuing to be angry is just allowing that individual to continue hurting you.

I would wish the person the best, as they are obviously struggling right now. People who steal from others have a lot to work on, and have a lot of bad karma coming their way. You lost a cactus, but have been gifted the opportunity to get rid of some of your own bad karma.

I would be willing to bet that with the right attitude of forgiveness, empathy, and love, your remaining cacti will experience a sudden growth spurt that will more than compensate you for what you have lost.

Peace and Happy Journeys Smile

Two bad cactus threads in one evening? This is truly a dark day for nexus growers! I'm going to go and check on all of mine now, hoping its not a case of bad things coming in threes...

Hope he spiked his hand on it!

I wouldn't really describe them as expensive or narcotic. And most people don't even know about them.

I really don't have anywhere else in my yard for them that gets much sun, except my front porch where the rest of them are, and have been so far undisturbed.

@entheogenadvocate- thanks. I'm really trying my best to not harbor any negativity over it. It's hard to not feel a little raw about it though.

If I were you, I'd grow a bunch of Datura, and some Vitex agnus-castus.
I loved growing vitex and seeing which ones of my friends would steal the leaves.... horticultural humor.

Like they say, you can lead a Horti-culture, but ya can't make her think. Err something like that.

Yeah, I've always thought those vitex look an awful lot like another very sought after herb.

I'm a horticulturist too. I've been working in garden centers for about 10 years now.

Why all the negativity and bad wishes? Let the cactus go and hope this 'person' has a life-changing experience that will show him the errors of his ways. In the end, you might do someone some good.

No need to spread more negative vibes. Let it go! Very happy

This.
Still a bummer. I would be very sad if this would happen to me. Hope the universe will give you something back in return!

I'm not sure if you guys are misreading my post or something. I don't think I was really being overly negative. All I said is I hope karma is served, which it already has been on my end by the kindness of someone who heard about my loss.

I said (or meant to say anyways) that part of me wanted to wish some bad juju on the thief, but that I know that's not the right way to be.

I'm sorry if I came off as too negative. I've actually been intentionally trying NOT to feel too negative about it. I guess some parts of language are lost in text.

Anyways, sounds like I will have a free replacement soon, and of a much better pachanoi clone, so I'll end up all the better because of it. I just hope the thief doesn't come back. The cactus they got probably wasn't enough for a dose anyways, as I had just harvested the main stalk, although it did have a nice big fat pup that was about a foot tall. Being that it's the PC clone, which aint the strongest, it probably wouldn't be much more than a threshold dose at best.

Much love to yall. Thanks for the kind thoughts.

i like to think that 1 it was only a pc, and 2 this person probably could use the experience desperately, 3 you were the silent benefactor of a potentially enlightened life, 4 they may come and thank you later Smile

They will be back ,you can be certain of it - ime thieves are motivated by positive reinforcement and the ease of thefts . I would hide all your active specimens , and put some nice fat T . Cuzcos out as bait .... Twisted Evil Sick

nah you didn't come across as negative at all and your post explained your attitude clearly. Smile ..sucks to hear about your loss.. yeah i can only really interject what everyone else already has.. dust yourself off and don't hold bad feelings about it towards them. they are probably really keen to experience the realm of psychedelia and are a bit misguided in how they should achieve that experience. embarrassing to admit but i actually cut a foot off of someones cactus some time ago when i was younger and evidently quite niave. i don't feel right about it and theres no excuse for it.. I can only say that I am sorry for the negative experience I may have caused to that person and that ultimately I have grown from it and the many other mistakes i have made.

Thieves can be a nightmare at times for some . My dream was to live on a bush rural property . After years of bloody hard work and saving I managed to acquire 20 acres in a rural sub-division of horticultural land . Before long the thieving began . As it transpired , the first thief [ a friend of my girlfriend ] got a few small MJs ; and I was never able to get anything remotely near ripe there after despite many attempts at subterfuge . This person was clearly reluctant to go home empty handed on his many subsequent visits [ always while I was at work ] , and any and everything of any value disappeared ; presumably to cover his 160 k petrol costs . Another thief - this one a neighbour [ renting ] - tore up my irrigation system , and dug up my garden and transplanted it at his home [ I followed the tracks ] ... Next it was the local kids after something to hock for money to play in the video games arcade - these turned out to be my employer's sons and their mates , who also struck when I was at work . In the space of 3 years or so I lost count after about 40 such incidents , and was on the verge of setting some very nasty traps . Nevertheless , sanity prevailed [ fear of maiming a child ] , and I sold up and moved away . Now I live in a flat in a town , rarely lock my door , and have not had one theft in 12 years ....
