I was thinking about a previous mushroom trip I had at a festival where they had an amazing art dome set up..I wandered into it and was liberated by one of Alex Grey's pieces..it was the first time I have had a REAL connection to art, like my mind and the art merged and I had total understanding of the piece and the emotion it was trying to evoke..it was almost like I knew exactly like what Alex Grey went through that inspired him to make the piece..I started crying in front of it in front of everyone I couldn't even help it.

I'm sure many of you have had similar experiences, where psychedelics help you tap into the nature or essence of a work of another human..whether it be music, poetry, books, art, anything!

Please share if you have, this is a phenomena that I am very interested in learning more about.

Psychedelics definitely increase my appreciation and allow me to see a bit more "behind the scenes" of artistic expression. I can't say I always gain a full understanding of the pieces, but I enjoy the perspective nonetheless. Many of Alex Grey's pieces I have viewed certainly portray the psychedelic experience from my eyes. The piece with the tunnel of eyes is one I have experienced before on a DMT breakthrough.

I have visited a few museums on mild doses of sclerotia and I was certainly very engaged in the experience. Learned quite a lot and had a great time.

Not sure of any hard facts on this issue, but for me psychedelics certainly increase my appreciation of the arts and the artists behind it all.

I've also began drawing/doodling again recently and have opened up Photoshop/Illustrator an increasing number of times in the last couple of months. And with all of the 3D work being thrown around over in the Front Page Collaboration I became overwhelmed with the temptation and picked up 3DS Max. The visions themselves that are induced/produced by psychedelics are still far beyond my artistic abilities, but it is great fun regardless.
The inner soul is full of joy. Reveal my secrets and sew me whole. With each day, "I" heeds your call.
You may not care the slightest and may not be the brightest, but from here "I" sees you're mighty for you created it all.

And the jumbling sea rose above the wall.

Through this chaos comes the order you enthrall.

Most of my experience with psychedelics and art have been with my own art, which is kind of like the ultimate mirror. Often I'll see the next bigger vision while looking at something I've just finished, while on a suitably high dose. I've also spent time tripping and looking at my wife's art, which just made me appreciate her more deeply.

We once spent a week in St.Petersburg FLA looking at Dali paintings on pretty substantial LSD doses. I've always been a fan but felt that, as you said, I could see a little deeper into his intent. I especially noticed that the technical aspect of the paintings was more obvious, as if the chronological unfolding of his brushwork was laid bare for all to see.

I've looked at a fair number of art books while in an elevated state, and I've found that with all great art I'll get the same kinds of enhancements that you'd expect out in Nature, where the beauty of the organization of the thing, the exquisite balance of its structure, are more clearly visible than usual.

VIII, I look forward to seeing what you do. Don't be shy about posting- there are a number of members here who could offer specific advice about all sorts of media, digital or otherwise.
