morning all,

I am currently comparing 2 different batchs of 50g of black Aya from 2 different vendors. Instead of breweing them and drinking them to compare there potency i decided to extract the alks, i chose this method as it may take me a while to compare them through drinking, as i only drink now and again, but i can get a harmala extractions of the 2 done in a week or so.

anyway, the first batch i brewed and got the normal dark yellowy colour i would expect and i am going to perform the gibran tek on it when i get home. However the other batch has now had 2 boils and is yellow coloured but very clear, i can see through it. the first boil was slightly darker but the 2nd was nearly completely clear with a yellow tinge.

I am very surprised at this as the vendor who supplied the clear vine is normally very good and has sold me some perfectly good vine in the past.

has anyone encountered this result from brewing Aya?

cheers

Do you brew the vine in water first before extracting the alks?

I have only made one batch of caapi only, it wasn't labeled for color, and was not for extracting, so maybe this isn't relevant. I took tablespoons out to look at the color strength while I was boiling it, and was fairly clear yellow going towards orange, not a lot of cloudiness though there was a fair amount of sediment as this was finely shredded vine with some powder, but that seemed to drop to the bottom. My third boil I used some vinegar and it was much paler-pale straw yellow, but probably had already gotten most of the good stuff out. I took pics, but not sure that would help.

Do you suppose the second batch you made is a different variety, or maybe not caapi at all?

Hey Julz,

Yeah I brewed it for 3x1hr in acidic spring water. I have brewed Aya before so i know what it should look like, but this 2nd sample is very clear compared to what it should be.

Its on its 3rd boil now and I will let it boil for a few hours. Its strange and all I can think is that its very poor quality or not Aya at all.

I will reduce and extract it to see what happens.

This would be my bet.

Depending on where you ordered it from, black ayahuasca could have landed you Alicia anisopetala. This vine makes a brew that is a brilliant gold/yellow and very clear prior to major reducing. It also does not contain harmala alkaloids.

Hi Snoz,

Its definitely a clear golden yellow colour. I was quite disappointed, but now I'm quite excitedVery happy .

Ive got about a kilo of this vine so I will report back when I have done some experimenting.

Cheers Snoz, you have brightened up my dayThumbs up

Edit-Just checked the "Poorly understood family of AYAHUASCA vines" thread and my brew looks just like the pics jamie posted of his Alicia brew

I need to go review that thread again too!

Mine was only labeled "Ayahuasca" Peruvian, but on the site was called caapi...

I guess it's also a case of poorly understood, and poorly labeled, mislabeled, over labeled, who knows.... Wish I did!

OK so I don't think I have Alicia. It brewed to a golden colour but then it reduced to a red colour.

I bought a UV light and it definitely had a green glow to it. I have started to extract it and I will see what I get. Next week I will brew some more to drink and see how strong it is.

Right then another little update,

I performed the gibran2 tek on the vine I thought might be Alicia and got a strange result. After I tested it with UV I got a glow, not as strong as the glow I got from some white vine I am working on but it still had an effect.

This led me to believe it wasn't Alicia as the properly tested Alicia didn't have any harmalas in it. Well the result of the Gibran2 is a very dark brown, sparkly, crystally powder, almost like ground brown glass.

It is the same method of ext I use on rue and vine but the result is very different.

Has anyone performed the Gibran2 tek on the Alicia vine from kiwi? If so what did you get?

Cheers.

i have ingested kiwis alicia vine 2 times without dmt admix, and had subtle very pleasant feeling body effects like a nice stone, and an expanded conciousness, it felt like aya only brew to me but more sublte and very pleasant to the body, also when MJ was smoked RAPID AND SEVERe amplification of the effects happened and my field filled with hallucinations, that looked strangely identical to the shipibo tapestries.

Just figured it add that tidbit

"This led me to believe it wasn't Alicia as the properly tested Alicia didn't have any harmalas in it."

It had no known harmalas or beta-carbolines..noone is saying it does not contain unknown beta carbolines. It def feels like it must contain beta carbolines..and I would expect there to be some glow if there is.

Post a picture of the vine and that would help us out to ID it.
Long live the unwoke.
