ahhhh! Very nice ganesha man! that made a world of difference, just a subtle change and it really came to life.

Thanks much. You can't imagine how much work is involved in changing limb positions. I'm sure that's not the case with those who know the software backwards and forwards and have crazy fast systems at their disposal, but for a newcomer such as myself who is armed with a pretty pedestrian laptop, it's like pulling teeth for sure.

Anyway, I hope it works. I've got multiple versions with the light source hitting him from a number of different angles. This one looks best to me out of context, but I'm fine with switching it out to accommodate daedaloops' rockin' lotus.

He's going to require more grueling limb twisting for his originally intended project, as well as some hard surface sculpting that I'm not so strong with yet, but I've got to put it down for the moment. The whole thing is making me bonkers.

I can certainly flip the molecule, but then it won't actually be a DMT molecule, will it? I had envisioned a tsk tsk tsk'ing from Benzyme if I did.

But for the love of god, he's sitting down. No more moving of limbs!

Mr. Van D'lay,

That piece is a lot of fun! Might you explain the linguistic stuff? Those markings seem to reappear in your pieces.

Ah yes, the linguistics...

The linguistics I discovered while excavating the sarcophagus of Gilgamesh, during my days as lead anthropologist in the CIA's scret Annunakians Are Real But Don't Tell Anyone program.

Roughly translated it reads as follows:

Look not upon the Elite Dawgs Trade and Chillout Forum.  There is nothing to see here.  Go back to your soup.  All human violators will be subject to immediate de-atomization.

It can also be interpreted as the ultimate how-to guide for picking up chicks in bars.  It's the secret to my luck with the ladies, and the code by which I live.

Can everyone stop fucking with my piece? For the love of Pete...

Just give me the consensus and I'll flip the molecule. And that will be the end of it!

Of course in real life you can point a molecule in any direction... As far as I know you'd see some minor structural differences between the two sides, but I think those would not be noticeable in such a simplified molecular model like you've got here.

I will defer to you chemistry wizards. Here is another version.

For the record, I actually modeled this molecule using one as reference which I had extracted from a baby's brain just prior to eating it. It looked just the same on either side, and tasted exactly like chicken.

the six-membered ring should have a circle inside it, the five-membered rings should have a double line on the side distal to the six-membered ring. the bottom sphere on the five- membered ring should be blue to indicate it's a nitrogen, as should the one with the two methyls bound to it.

I was going to join the Nexus community, but then I noticed the molecule on the front page was missing not one, but two double rings!! I knew these guys were no good and immediately left the website.

Still coloring my piece. Should have something to share this weekend.

depends on the notation.

if you go with the kekule depiction, it has three double-bonds on the benzene moiety, and
one on the pyrrole. Using the aromatic notation, both have rings to denote "resonance", pi-bonds can alternate positions.

and I don't think depiction of the molecule is a good enough reason not to join the community. I didn't join thinking I was among fellow chemists. We all share a certain enthusiasm for the same compound.

Benz did you make that yourself?

I'm still layering up, moving onto faster drying titanium linseed stuff. Safflower is damn slooooooooow. Stay tuned Smile

it's an sdf file i got from pubchem, opened in Marvin Sketch, saved as an image.
most stable geometry.

i'll render a more fancy one in pymol or avogadro, if i can get them to quit crashing.

I was kidding when I asked you to sculpt one. I'm set, thank you. Anyone put off by the lack of double rings can kiss my ass. Honestly...
