I haven't smoked dmt yet. I'll be extracting it soon, just need to find some bark. Anyways, I was wondering what the nature of your trips are, especially to those of you who smoke it often (if you could, mention how often you prefer to smoke). I've heard many a times not to "give into the astonishment". Are there times where you do and just have fun during the trip? (rather than taking it for the purposes of a meaningful trip or learning experience)
"There is no teacher, no pupil; there is no leader; there is no guru; there is no Master, no Saviour. You yourself are the teacher and the pupil; you are the Master; you are the guru; you are the leader; you are everything. And to understand is to transform what is." - Jiddu Krishnamurti

existentialism - the philosophical idea that your own experiences & thinking initially determine why we exist and subsequentley, how we can fulfill our existence (our life). /////// I believe most of us come to the conclusion that we exist to exist, that there is no other answer for life. What we all debate in our own minds is how we should go about fulfilling our lives.

Well there's been a few times where it was so astonishing I couldn't help but just TRY and understand what the heck is going on and all that I can manage to do is laugh hysterically through the whole thing. Those were mostly with doses of 25-45mg.

I don't have a "schedule" of smoking to go by. I havent been smokin for very long though. This last dose a couple weeks ago was the first dose I've had for months. I can say that I've had basically two different kinds of trips so far. None of them landscape based in anyway. Haven't had any fully formed entities yet. The two main type of trips so far is:

Entity based. Some sort of entity is present. Almost always in the form of some sort of liquid like construction. Interacting with me in the same way a dolphin would lookin at you through the glass. Usually feels like its a plant spirit. Possibly the plant it was extracted from.

Matrix style layout. Seems likes its the heart of the programming of everything. Usually some sort of grid style pattern, most of the time there are 3 main colors.

It's always a meaningful leaning experience IMO.

For me my travels have very little in common with each other, the vast majority of the time they are unique. Contrary to the experience of some I can (very occasionally) control what I am doing when I am there. For instance once I hit the GVG and as I did that I pushed myself off the bed and spent my journey dancing. There was no room there around me anymore and despite there being potential obstacles all around I did some good work. For the most part however I have very little control over what happens and don’t generally try to aim for such a result.

You should definitely check out the subforums, "DMT Experiences" and "Quality Experience Reports", for a wealth of experiential data on DMT.

When you achieve a breakthrough - whether for the first time or for the hundredth time - it's impossible "not to give way to astonishment." My first breakthrough experience with the substance far exceeded anything I could have possibly conceptualized as a human being prior to experiencing it directly. And I had spent hours reading experience reports on this forum and Erowid, listening to Terence McKenna (also having a decent amount prior experience with a few other psychedelics Razz ), trying to imagine what a DMT induced state might be like. It's all cliche in DMT-related circles but, nothing can prepare you for a DMT breakthrough, and language fails miserably to adequately convey such experiences (at best, it can only give you the vaguest sense).

My breakthroughs have been wholly immersive (truly other worldly, like you have entered another realm or space; no or very little sense of having a body) hyper-vivid and hyper-real. Almost always there have been the presence of entities that interact with you (striving to get some message across to you in myriad ways) and clearly impart intelligence. Other than this general template, breakthrough experiences vary dramatically from one person to the next - and from one breakthrough to the next in the same individual! "Hyperspace" does indeed get progressively more immersive and bizarre with each visit.

Really, it simply must be experienced directly. But tread with the utmost caution, because, uhh, you very well could find yourself in hyperspace hell too Twisted Evil

Began with smoking daily (bad idea for me), then couple times a week (bad idea for me), then couple times a month (not a bad idea for me) and now I'm down to a couple times a year (good idea for me - I should smoke more often).

The nature of my trips is fundamentally synaesthetic. Some of the heavier ones are downright mystical (ego death frequently comes with this for me). They are wholly convincing, 3-D immersive, often I float in zero G, frequently I am completely and utterly transposed in both time and space. Many of them are just gorgeous and playful, mischivious, etc.
"But even if nothing lasts and everything is lost, there is still the intrinsic value of the moment. The present moment, ultimately, is more than enough, a gift of grace and unfathomable value, which our friend and lover death paints in stark relief."

I think these two options (´fun´, and ´learning experience´ )are not mutually exclusive. For me, however, most of my experiences with DMT have been rather more "learning experiences" and less "fun". If fun, than a terrifying one, if something like that is possible.

I don´t want to scare anybody off, but if you are looking for 100% "fun", then consider doing something else than DMT Wink

(In other words: smoked DMT is almost always quite overwhelming)

the experience that i am seeking is meaning to where we are and belong in the universe.
to have that ultimate knowing,or out of the body(obe) and know that our the life we live is just another reality in the cosmos that we are aware of.
i do not want the ultimate answer as then there would be nothing to seekVery happy
just good experiences that i can enjoy and share.Thumbs up

I get what your saying. I'm definitely no doing it for 100% fun; it's just from what I've read (and I know nothing you read can prepare you for the ineffable experience), I keep hearing DON'T GIVE INTO THE ASTONISHMENT like its a bad thing, since you can go 'farther' and learn something. But I guess the answer I'm seeking is ineffable itself, since everybody that's replied has somewhat differing responses; and of course, this is dmt afterall. Nevertheless, they help convince me that I'm prepping myself as well as I can, though I know nothing will prepare me for what I will ultimately experience.

Thanks for the replies everyone, keep em going if you can.

I remember when i spend the whole evening perfecting my smoking technique , which was kind of frustrating because i burned my entire stash. When finally i loaded whatever was left of my stash in a pipe, smoked it and closed my eyes. Feeling the peculiar DMT taste enter my longues. I opened my eyes to see that every object in the room looked chromed and shiny. The nature of my trip was futuristic and perfection. I let loose of all the nerves I had built up before experiencing DMT and i uttered something along the line of "holy shit, this is cool!"

this is something i hear asked a lot..but imo, the trips that are most fun tend to also be some of the most meaningful and educational as well
