Haha...I think Deep Blue would struggle with that too..Laughing

If you have 4gb+ Ram and a decent Gpu (perhaps 64bit) There shouldn't be a problem..

I'm happy to let you give it a shot. It's tricky business though, even if your machine can handle merging the subtools. PM me and we'll work out the details.

Alright, alright. I'm going to take the long way around and work this out the hard way, by transposing the goddamn thing one subtool at a time.

Give me a few days. This is going to be a pain in the ass.

Haha. I'll have to remember this next time I'm feeling overwhelmed.

New impossible shape variation. It's gone through a few versions since last posting.

I don't think I'm going to mess with it much more till I get the background done... something spiraling and crazy and carnivalesque. That'll take a few more days... spare time has been thin on the ground lately.

That's just edible Guy...

The green is kind of growing on me too...kinda 'chromey'...
If that was dumped into Max you could reflect an off page background/texture and put subtle lights everywhere..
or are you strictly PS?

Thumbs up

Cyb- I am a Bryce user ... Obsolete but capable. But keep in mind that this is an impossible shape that breaks all the rules of 3D space. Probably the best I could do is set some surfaces up in Bryce at the correct angles, reflect stuff off of them and then clone some of those effects onto the impossible shape's surfaces. But first I'm going to get the background in place, see how everything balances out.

Also, as much as I love tasty reflective effects, I really don't see much of that kind of thing in hyperspace- colors tend to be very smooth and saturated, and don't seem to react to external light sources but instead provide their own lighting and color. That's the look I'm trying to aim for here.

Oh..I havn't used Bryce since the good old days...must dig that one back up..

I suggest lots of 'outer glow' and deep hue saturation and some 'manic curving' in PS later..

Razz

Been following this thread since the beginning and I gotta say thanks to everyone for all the effort going into this front page. Each piece is coming together incredibly! I reallly enjoy the variety of subjects and styles. Not to mention top-notch execution.

Keep up the amazing work everyone. I couldnt sit back and watch any longer without expressing my thanks.

Thanks VIII, it's really been something to see this come together.

Art... Great to see a less static position. I think you've gone way beyond with this one. I understand getting burnt, especially with slow processing and technical hurdles thrown in the mix. Thanks for all your efforts here... Your Ganesh will bring a lot of life and energy to our front page.

I agree that is much better already as a sort of levitating pose.. and I really love the whole intricate work you've done with this model and the scene.

And yea, this project wasn't supposed to add any extra pressure to anyone, this isn't our job it's just a fun little community project we do on our freetime.. So thanks for working through your technical difficulties with the corrupted saves and merging the subtools even if it was difficult.

Speaking of that , it's been about 1 month now and I think the progress has been really great, I mean I just threw that number out of my head I had no idea how long something like this would take so I'm glad to see it's falling together nicely. Everyone just work on your pieces and do what you need to do, no time-pressure. It's gonna be sweeet.
