I was just pondering whether or not blood pressure affects the DMT experience, and I'll tell you what I mean by that. It's well known that people's individual sensitivities to DMT can vary for a multitude of variables, but could blood pressure be one of them? Do people with higher blood pressure for example, perhaps deliver the DMT to the brain more quickly and efficiently than those with low blood pressure? I'm not saying it couldn't be the other way around, but what do you guys think? Does blood pressure (on average) contribute to the experience?

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

I only know that having high blood pressure is NOT good for taking DMT...
There is a harrowing near death trip report on Erowid (hospitals and everything) because of high blood pressure.

It seems the two don't mix..Neutral

Can't speak to High Blood Pressure, but I do believe that your metabolism effects your experience. That is, higher metabolism, faster you enter the experience and faster you exit. I have seen this first hand.

If you have High Blood Pressure, you really should get that under control BEFORE experimenting with any substance. Always better to err on the side of caution. Thumbs up

I'm aware of the high blood pressure risks, and is not the point of the thread. I happen to have low blood pressure. You could just as well use a whole experimental group of people using DMT with "low blood pressure", but obviously some would have higher or lower blood pressures than others within the group. And obviously this "group" is entirely theoretical because it would be quite impossible to completely isolate all the other variables, but having said that, I'm still curious if it is a contributing factor to "how hard it hits".

Mesc-man, plz be carefaul with clonopin... It can cause quite a drop in blood pressure, and mixed witht alcohol, can be quite strong. It was prescribed to me some years ago and I did drink a bit with it, then found myself blacking out in a parking lot, shaking, and my hands curling inward(inversion posture) = lack of blood to brain. Fortunately my friends were there, one an ER doc, who explained about the blood pressure effect. The dr who prescribed it, never warned me about it... He was an asshole in other regards too.

There may have been other factors besides clonopin and me, or the beer, or the fact I had dislocated a toe a half hour before, and I accept responsibility for that. But I have had a number of friends tell me that they won't touch clonopin cuz it just plain messes them up.

Be careful.

I'm not so sure I believe that report in the first place. Anyone can say anything on the internet and its also possible that some doctor wanted to scare the kid and told him he had a heart attack.
Personally, I think dmt ( usually) lowers my blood pressure and puts me in a calm meditative state and more in touch with my body, and I'm 60 years old with high blood pressure ( under control with medication.) I have had a few experiences where I have smoked a bit too much and that may certainly raise blood pressure simply due to panic reaction, so I do think people must be careful always anyway.

As for alcohol... I like my wine, but I never ever drink any alcohol before smoaking spice. I find that alcohol grounds me to a dull mental state and totally blocks my free flight abilities.

Peace

Mesc man, one clonopin, one fat draft... So, no over doing it, but I naturally have low pressure, so I was pissed the doc never warned me. I'm fine with valium, always have been, but doc didnt want to prescribe that since he thinks it's so addictive... No, really, he'd rather have me passing out in a parking lot.

Guess my point is, if you reacted badly to the clonopin, it probably wouldn't be a good idea to experiment too much more with mixing it with things.

Fortunately, that boat has sailed and I'm not in it anymore... and never going to get back on it either.

I don't know the medical answer, I only know from my experience.

About a year ago I was drinking a LOT of caffeine in the form of energy shots (not the sugary stuff). Those things are pretty awesome and get me going when I don't feel motivated, but I was drinking so much that I would get angry at very little things... my body and mind were rejecting the levels of stimulants I was taking in and my blood pressure was constantly on the verge of rising.

The two worst experiences I had with DMT were during those times. Once, I could feel my blood pressure rising like I was getting really pissed off at something, except that it was during the buildup phase after I had smoked maybe 20 mg. I saw the color red as it built and I knew I was in for an uncomfortable experience. It was intolerably intense, my head felt like it was going to explode, my "vision" was filled with colorful Aztec type imagery, complete with a very angry god-like being in the center that seemed to hate me to the core. The visuals felt like they were being shoved against me so they would hurt, and they throbbed and shifted, and morphed. But it was painful.

The second related experience involved me feeling like I had been shot in the head. I posted a report about that. In short, it was interesting, fairly painful, very uncomfortable, incredibly confusing, and not something I want to experience again.

Like I said, I don't know about the medical side of things, but experientially, if I feel myself experiencing similar symptoms like I was then (irritability, etc) that tend towards increasing my blood pressure, I won't do anything. I am afraid my brain will explode Smile

Sure, mescaline-man. When I wrote up the report, I attributed it to video games, which might have had something to do with it, but after the Aztec experience I was pretty sure it was the stimulants.

I haven't had experiences like that since, but like I said, I'm a bit more careful about certain things.

Yes I was. And I remember getting very annoyed because I wasn't playing very well lol.

The parallel between the experience and the game is unmistakable, no doubt.

Blood pressure has always scared me when on these types of plants. Though I am young and I think I'm healthy, I have put my heart through the ringer more then once with substance abuse so I'm always cautious, when taking anything that might adversely affect my system.
