This seems fairly common and depends on your individual sensitivity and extent of use, and probably a handful of other factors.. for me i think food plays a big role in this, since i eat a ton of fruit..and all these contain flavonoids that are MAOI, to different degrees
When i started getting more into psychedelics it just became easier and easier to slip into altered states without taking anything. harmala-esque states of mind became easily reachable through a bit of relaxation, especially in the dark..but that all happens in a sort of trance and it can evolve into aya-type visions occasionally. Jamie for example seemed to push this pretty far and was going into full on aya states every night for a while without doing anything but laying in the dark
after a few seconds of focus with eyes open i found a while back that i can shift into a state of mind that is very very similar to lower end dmt effects. its been getting easier to do and is really freaky, but reminiscent of experiences i had as a kid in some ways to. its usually low dose type visual/mental affects, but occasionally it deepens to the point where i can't see my room anymore. its really hard for me to try and explain this though at it is a bit different from dmt
in regards to the dmt changing mushroom trips..yea i think dmt has changed pretty much everything, lol. especially lsd experiences as well.. people often don't realize that its possible to have a breakthrough type experience into an out of body visionary world on just mushrooms or just lsd..with lsd its definitely quite a bit different than dmt.. but ime mushrooms are like oral dmt
<Ringworm>hehehe, it's all fun and games till someone loses an "I"
