Hello travellers!

I want to start of by saying thank you for having such a wonderful big forum where information is abundant and attitudes are so helpful!

I have become acquainted with DMT about 2 months ago by methods of changa and had my first breakthrough the first time I tried it and all I can say it changed my view of everything forever. I have done LSD, psilocybin and others previously plenty of times, but nothing has showed me infinity and unity with such a miraculous slap in the face as changa did. It was a changa mix of acacia and blue lotus I believe, but it hit me soooo good!

Anyway ever since I have been reading on this forum and have been wanting to make my own spice, but I was away a lot last month so the opportunity was not there. Now that I am settled I can finally start the process and am very excited about it. I have done lots of reading about teks and have decided to go with a STB tek with an extremely helpful video called "The DMT Workshop".

I have many many questions as a noob, but what I can promise is that I won't be asking any questions before having read first.

Sincerely,
Import

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

Welcome to the Nexus Import!
After watching the video outlining your extraction Tek their are a few small problems with the Tek you plan on using. Nothing major so I'd recommend you check-out Noman's Tek here on our site and make any necessary changes required.
manly things like you don't want to "shake" your Naptha and Lye mixture together but gently roll the jar end over end to mix them. otherwise you might end up with a foamy emulsion making the 2 layers harder to separate.
Their are other small discrepancies but easily fixed.
If you follow Noman's tek I'm sure you'll have no problems and you could use your video as a reference and visual aid.

Hope it helps.

Hi and thanks Sykosis!

Yeah, I have gone through Noman's tek some times, but I am terrible at doing things without visual aid... I for example already thought that the way he shook the jar in the video was weird, as I had read that the "DMT-shuffle" is the part you want to get right. Smile
My MHRB is arriving monday, but still waiting on the NAoH and some other things. I have been wondering a lot about the glass containers I should be using. What do you recommend? I can buy proper glassware from this website: http://www.laboratoriumglas.eu/, but is it necessary? Will regular shop-bought items do? I have seen a lot of people use regular items, but I want to make it as safe and high quality as possible. Smile

Greetings,
Import

Wow, a reply from cyb! Very happy I read your tek earlier, actually have the .pdf saved on my computer. Just looked back at it to see why I dismissed it. Realised the only reason I abandoned reading it at that time was because it was really late and I was really sleepy! Smile
A few questions though! The main one being, what is the advantage of ATB over STB teks in your opinion?
Also, regarding vinegar, I see you are using regular ASDA vinegar. I have found acetic anhydride online (http://www.hinmeijer.nl/product/25701/Azijnzuur_div_concentraties.aspx) with different concentrations of it. What would be the right one to buy? 10%, 25, 60, 99? Or should I just go to the supermarket and buy regular vinegar as you suggest?

Thanks tons for your input guys. It's awesome!!!

I prefer STB because it is just easier and quicker...(you don't have to do the acid soak if you don't want to)

With A/B you will discard the bark after the acid soaks...so you are just working with liquid and not sludge...some prefer this...

As for vinegar....regular white vinegar is 5% I think.... but whatever works really to bring the pH down to 2 - 4

I've found the addition of Salt is the real key to higher yield though...

Good Luck...Thumbs up

Thanks a ton once again! Clearing things up on the go, nice! Smile
I will go with your tek, it seems reasonably easy to do. I think I'll start off with 50gm of mhrb, to make sure I don't waste a lot if things go awry. And as for the vinegar. If I were to buy the acetitc anhydride 10%, the logical thing to assume would be that I just use half the amount you use with your 5% one?

Sincerely,
Import Smile

EDIT: Adding a big thumbs up Thumbs up for all the information and friendliness!

More or less...probably won't hurt it a bit if you use the same...Wink

Hope it goes well...

You beat me to it Cyb. Yes Cyb has a wonderful pictorial guide. I keep the PDF on my computer as well along with the rest.
No you can definitely go to the local housewares store and buy most of your supplies their, no problem. If your like me and absolutely must have lab equipment I buy mine from here but you don't need it no.

Not sure where you live but if you live in Canada I could help you find chem supplies like Lye, Naphtha etc.

for glassware...you want as narrow a jar as possible for mixing your Mimosa, Lye and water mixture in so that when you add your naphtha the layer of naphtha on top will be as thick as possible to make it easier to separate off. I personally use a florence boiling flask with a TIGHT fitting PTFE plastic stopper, PTFE is basically Teflon. If you use the right size your naphtha layer will be in the neck of the flask and very easy to pull off.

For storing your DMT saturated naphtha I recommend small square pyrex(lock&lock brand) storage containers they'll be easier to evap, freeze, dry, scrap, clean basically everything so hopefully you haven't gone out and bought mason jars yet...

I use glass pipettes to suck my naptha layer off and would recommend you do the same way easier then the turkey baster method, just make sure they are glass and remember you'll need the pipette pump to go with it. I started off with plastic ones but they melted from the naphtha.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the elaborate reply. It has many of the things I needed! CHEERS!

I live in The Netherlands. Finding the supplies you mentioned was a piece of cake. Smile
That florence flask looks awesome for separation! What size florence flask would you suggest getting? A 250ml as in the picture? I don't think I'll be doing any extractions with more than 200gm of MHRB ever. Will probably stick to 100gm MHRB per go. When I get a hang of it I might try larger amounts, but I don't think that'll be necessary.
As to the containers - thanks! I've been looking around for those in shops around town and haven't been able to find them and had no clue what brand names existed. Will order online. Smile How big are they? How much would I need for a 100gm MHRB extraction?

Pipettes are in stock, ordered from amazon. Do I really need a pipette pump? Wouldn't know where to go looking for one. It also seemed that not all pipettes would fit a pump after looking at a youtube video.

Soo, my journey is starting soon. Can't wait!

Epic help. I feel really welcome here!

The size of the flask depends on how much your extracting, it needs to be able to contain all your water. So for example will use Nowman's tek 50g of mhrb will require 750ml of water so you'll want a 1000ml flask. you may need to add a little extra water to fill the flask to the base of the neck just make sure the extra water dosen't lower the Ph too much if so add extra Lye.
I use a 2000ml flask for my extraction when doing 100g mhrb and works perfectly, although I do need to add just a little extra water to make the naphtha reaches the neck of the flask. That picture was just for a basic idea any glass container in this manner with a neck would work great for extraction. as long as your naphtha sits in the neck it will be a thicker layer and easier to pull off with less chance of getting any Lye in it.
I had really wanted to use a Volumetric Flask but was unable to find one large enough you may have better luck...

make sure you get the glass Lock&Lock containers because they do make them plastic as well.

My containers are 150ml for freeze precipitation and 750ml for evaping I have 8 of each but you'd be fine with 4 small and 1 large.

Also if your going to be doing any sodium carbonate washes you may want to get a separatory funnel because it will make separating the lower water layer with the upper naphtha layer much easier, I use one when I do carb washes. A 500ml funnel is plenty because it just needs to hold your naphtha and about 50-100ml of water.

Glad to be of service!

Welcome Import,

For glassware, I simply went to a wine store and bought a 4 liter glass jug of cheap wine. I poured the wine out and washed out the jug. It narrows at the top and the glass is pretty thick so it works perfectly. Total cost...$9.00 USD.

As a bonus, You can drink the wine if you want....Thumbs up

Good Luck!

Yeah I would love to get one of these big glass bottles or jugs, but where I live I can't seem to find any... Sad About time to make extractions bigger than 50gm a pop! Pleased
