In the larger piece I'm working on (which is going to be a bigger, beefier, full color 3D version of this - https://www.dmt-nexus.me...aspx?g=posts&t=21263), he'll be packing heat, makin' it rain and catching a smoke simultaneously. I may throw in some chained naked women chugging down 40's, a few rabid dogs and a luchador, just for extra good measure and subtlety, but first I will finish his less maniacal twin for our nexus project.

Sounds perfect. You could have Krishna in the background guzzling aya from a plastic bag in a low-rider, while Rama tumbles pigeons from hyperspace.

Peace

Macre

Guy: I agree with you about the sense of ancient wisdom in the facescape, it wasnt my plan originially but the more I think about it I think its a better fit.

Cyb: and incorporation of the two would look pretty cool, im a little worried it might get too busy though. (oh and thanks for the comment on my avatar, hope its not taken as disrespectful by any american indians)

These are actually sketches that I did a while ago, the facescape is a couple years old, hence the paint splatters and stuff on it. So Ill check out Daedaloops graphic and start working on a fresh sketch that will fit better.

And your impossible shape is looking pretty awesome guyomech, cant wait to see what your planning for the background!

Very cool. I've seen similar ideas before, but yours is one of the better executions. I like the integration of the rivers in particular.

More sketches spam! I've finally narrowed it down and started on my final piece. I actually have more sketches than this, but these are some of the more interesting ones:

And here is the beginning of my final piece:

that is lookin pretty bad ass nils! what kind of medium are you thinkin about using for the final peice?

I was thinkin if i go with the facescape his eye would look like a window into hyperspace, like a glass marble with the entire cosmos inside. i hope you havnt seen that before lol, if so somebodys stealin my dreams! damn you illuminati!

-also i should add, its been well over a year since ive vistited hyperspace, had a very good mushroom lesson this last spring but thats been it for me for a while. So im thinking ill sit down and meditate with these sketches and ask for some guidance pretty soon here.

My last couple of pieces have been a watercolor base/background and then coming back in with acrylic to bring some elements into the foreground.

Nils- digging all the transmission metaphors- psyched to see where you take it!

Tokapelli- love the eye idea... Might want to zoom in as close as possible to the face so you can do that and other fun detailed stuff. A mandala in the sky behind the face could be cool...

Cyb: good call on recessing the ornamental detail on the impossible shape. Frankly I've had a bit of a struggle with finding three opposing colors that aren't just simple primaries, which vibe nicely together... I know the green is a funny color but I arrived at it via quite a bit of trial and error. I'd like to invite you to mess with other color combos a bit, see if anything blows you away...

I don't actually mind the green myself, but have you tried playing with some analogous colors schemes? They always vibe well, in my opinion.

ahh i remember looking thru your website now nils, very cool stuff.

and I like your idea about the mandala in the sky too Guy. Now originally the sun was going to be just below the horizon on this peice for a good orange red sky. Im wondering if a full moon at night reflecting on the water would fit better with everybody elses peices.

*edit, in other words, warm or cool colors?

Damn I am really happy how this project is turning out, awesome work everyone..

I won't be home for the next 4 days, so I thought I would post an update where I'm at with the modeling. The overall form is pretty much done, now alot of tweaking will ensue.. The textures are just placeholders and alot of detail is still missing. And I realized the perspective in my drawing wasn't realistic at all, so here's the best I could do to minimize the screen overlapping, took a lot of tweaking..

Also made a very quick animation test on the flower so there's a noticeable cycle glitch, in the finished product it would be completely smooth and seamless.

WOW! that is better than i imagined it would be, great work Daedaloops. hmmm, so now that i see that, im thinking my original sunset/warm color scheme would work best to contrast the overall image, and add some balance.

That is very bad ass man I am honored to be a part of this. That animation is pretty cool, be even cooler when its smooth. Awesome!

Would you like interlocking gears for the background? I could whack em up.

Something along these lines, perhaps?

I've got these prototypes already handy. I would just need to mix, match and assemble.

Or, how about this? What would you think if I gave up my panel and instead modeled three more Hindu deities for the four corners of the darkened space outside of the centerpiece?

I could do maybe Brahma, Yama and Vishnu. Or Kali, perhaps. It would take me about two weeks to complete each one.

Just spitballing here. Feel free to tell me I'm overstepping my boundaries.

I personally think a more minimalist background would be better. At a certain point, with gears or other models, I feel like it might get a bit too busy. Also, I think your panel works really well and would hate to see it go. Just my two cents though.
