Hello nexians, I'm gonna need some help I.D.ing 2/3 plants i picked to make tea with today! I'll post them in order from "yeah im sure it's..." to "is this what i think it is?" order. The third pic is DEFF P. Incarnata. The second im pretty sure is Hibiscus flower. The first im not too sure is morning glory... It looks like it but i could be wrong... Any help is appreciated greatly. I went for a walk after my weightlifting session today and (ethically) picked these up along the way. I've been concocting bed time teas now for a little while to sleep more soundly. I feel like these could help me out a lot to achieve my desired intentions. hardonfordrums attached the following image(s): DSCN0518.JPG (1,920kb) downloaded 139 time(s). Yeah, it definitely is. I'm just not so sure about the first one. I have a real good hunch the red one is hibiscus though. "Hardonfordrums" does not exist. Because the leafs are 5 pronged/starish shaped, P. Edulis has the same flowers but ovular leafs. And it's native to s/se states in america. "Hardonfordrums" does not exist. The second one is definitely Hibiscus. Third, definitely Passion fruit flower. First, no idea with certainty. I'll look for more info around and about. *edit: Here is a place to start with the possible morning glory "Ipomoea"- there are a lot... Do you have pics of the leaves, stem, and growth habit? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ipomoea

What seems to not be right about it being a morning glory is that I can't see 5 distinct petals or spikes radiating from the center- can you post another pic, full on, down the throat of the flower, and one of the leaves?
another way to look at this: google "pink flowering vine" images... google can be your friend.

Yeah, they were so fragile that even picking them kinda disrupted their stature... But yeah i mean i googled pink morning glory vine and the imaged seemed to add up but i wanted to get anothers opinion. I will go back out later today with my cam. to the place i fould them and take a head on pic. The flowers i picked are sitting in my freezer just in case. But they definitely are on a vine, and seem to be IT, but i wont jump ahead of myself.. "Hardonfordrums" does not exist. It might be Bind Weed which looks a lot like Ipomoea but isn't. Convolvulus or Calystegia
It makes it hard when you use common names like "morning glory" in the search engines- so try the generic "pink flowering vine" and look at the images.
Be sure you are sure what it is before you ingest!

It looks like it might be Ipomoea turbinata, from seeing the image on WIKI. http://upload.wikimedia....bad%2C_AP_W_IMG_9711.jpg"Hardonfordrums" does not exist. Still not 100% as the leaf shapes on your specimen are elongated heart, with 3 deep lobes, and the photos of I. turbinata are much rounder, classic heart-shaped without the lobes.
Keep searching... and good luck!

Thanks man... I'll try! It just looks SO DAMN CLOSE! lol... But hey i've concocted so far for my sleepy tea: -Passionflower vine/leaf/flower/ -Passionfruit (P. Edulis) rind (.25% harmalas) -Silk tree flower (Albizia julibrissin) -Hibiscus flower -Hops extract -Morning glory flower (maybe....) Even without the morning glory, this should make me sleepy. There you go! Better safe than sorry, right? Yeah, the passion flower ought to make you sleepy. In brasil, they drink maracuja (passion fruit) juice which is made of the seeds and pulp around them as a sleep remedy, but hehe, it also mixes well with cachaça or vodka. But the rind contains harmalas? I didn't know that - I've got lots to learn, still reading so much everyday. Enjoy!

Dude for sure, always safe! Now i have a practically abundant supply of the stuff... Hmm i smell LSA in the air... Dude i bet, the stuff is super sour/sweet/tangy, and yeah specifically in the genus P. Edulis the rind contains .25% harmalas. The rind of the fruit is where the highest concentration is also. I love the sedation passionflower gives. But yeah man im learning too, thanks for the guidance! Luckily the local grocery had some passion fruit, love the stuff, really good for you too. That's great that you can get it fresh locally. I love maracuja, the wrinklier, the better!
