This is a real easy way to decant your solvent into a collection vessel. Just gently squeeze the HDPE jug until the mimosa is close to going down the tube. In a minute I was able to collect 97% of the naptha added to the jug.

A hole was drilled in the cap, and a hose was inserted. I added a ring of silicone on top.

Thanks for experimenting and sharing, but... silicon and naphtha? not a good idea. Also what is the hose made of?

That's a cool idea, but you should REALLY be wearing gloves (and eye protection too). What if that top popped off? You'd be in some real trouble.
Good method, but it needs some safety measures implemented. Gloves. A tray or bowl for your base container, so if it spills, it doesn't go all over the place.

also: gloves.

I don't know if you've ever had a chemical burn, but it is not pleasant.

Good point about the gloves, but I do wear goggles.

The tubing is PVC, which isn't affected by Naptha. (HDPE tubing is also available.)

Thanks for the kind words. Big grin

Yes, Naptha is a Hydrocarbon and Hydrocarbons over time break down both PVC and HDPE plastics

E: 30 Days of constant exposure causes no damage. Plastic may tolerate for years.

G: Little or no damage after 30 days of constant exposure to the reagent.

F: Some effect after 7 days of constant exposure to the reagent. The effect may be crazing, cracking, loss of strength or discoloration.

N: Not recommended for continuous use. Immediate damage may occur. Depending on the plastic, the effect may be severe crazing, cracking, loss of strength, discoloration deformation, dissolution or permeation loss.
