Hello all, I just wanted to share my new loph with you all! It is just shy of 3" diameter. What do you think? I've estimated it to be 15-20yrs old. great_blue attached the following image(s): IMG_0024.jpg (3,133kb) downloaded 89 time(s). Aw what a cute little guy. Be sure to spritz him with sacred water and give a blessing! --------------------------------------------------*Kash's LSA Extraction* * Kash's Mescaline Extraction*------------------------------------------------------ All things I say are complete and utter ramblings of nonsense. Thanks all I'm definitely psyched to have gotten this. I would love to get some seeds after it flowers. Though I could some growing advice.. I received it bare root and planted it in 50% miracle grow cactus, palm and citrus mix / 50% perlite for good drainage. It is about 20-24" away from my T5 flouros. After it gets settled in, I figured a diluted, high phosphorus fertilizer with the waterings once a month would be good. I by no means are experienced in growing cacti. How do these conditions sound? Just trying to keep it simple. All posts by great_blue are fictitious in nature and for entertainment purposes only. it can push up fruits many months after flowering, if you see a pink fruit you are in luck once the button is established, it can take far more light than that, say giv it a month, then start moving the light closer to it, a couple of inches from a floro is fine for established plants. (be sure the temps stay below 100*f) give then some N, as well. a basic 20-20-20 type feed is fine, but go light- they dont eat much under such sparse lighting i'd recommend watering about once every 2 months wait for weeks after you think it looks dry root rot is a bad, dont kill it w/kindness cheers

Thanks for the solid advice dg. What do you mean by fruits though? As far as I know, I thought they just flowered and produced seeds. Is that what you meant? I definitely wanted to keep the light soft at first until it got settled in. I have it that far away mainly because that is where I am keeping my trichocereous seedlings for now. They are pretty sensitive and I still must diffuse the light in the seedling tray. However, I will gradually increase the light intensity in regards to watering. I feared I had watered too early, on the second or third day after transplant. I read somewhere they should be allowed a couple weeks to settle in the dry mix first. But the mix is drying out pretty quickly now so I feel a bit better now that its not soaking. I am still getting used to the fact that these are treated differently than the plants I am use to Thanks for your help! the flower forms, lasts a few days, then shrivels up later a pink fruit will pop out, the seeds are in the tasty fruit that loph never got so big and hairy under weak floro lighting, it will start to eloiate(grow weak and skinny) under floro light, which is why i recomend getting it closer to the light, add blocks under the pot to raise it above your other seedlings. cheers

Ahhh I see... Then look for the pink fruit I will! And yes, I will certainly move it closer. I dont want any skinny cacti unless its a trich!
