Hi, I have been off my meds a few days so I can experiment with space travel and was wondering if anyone has any experience with beta-blockers. Theres not much information on it, but I did find one study that was very detailed explaining how it reacts with DMT and will not cause any health issues or side effects other then making the trip 2-3 times more intense due to a blockage of a specific seritonin receptor that would otherwise make you come down faster. It was something like that and I regretably lost the source, but was wondering if anyone has experimented with beta blockers.

Just to throw it in there, I also take Xanax. I do not use it as a drug and I do not take it every day(even though thats what my prescription is for). I take it for sleep when my mind is wondering off(especially after my first DMT trip). Any info on the mix of either of these, or even both with dmt would be appreciated. Especially the beta blockers. Would have posted this in the health section, but theres no new topic button lol I guess im not priviledged.

I should also mention I took some xanax which helped with the body high. Forgot I took the xan but im sure its ok.

Stay off the xanax if you want to experience hyperspace. Otherwise, it's a waste.

Ya I know, but it was experimental. It gave me a very comfortable body high and allowed me to get a good feel of dmt and work my mind to fight off any bad feelings. It kinda prepared me for my next trip. Xan will make almost any drug weaker, but sometimes its nice to not go completely out of your mind(and body) and to just simply enjoy some visuals. I stared into the mirror and watched me age without tripping too hard, but the visuals were soo real. I grew a gray beard and some wrinkles and it was very interesting. Its not bad to have a little fun and just feel good. What works for me, may not work for all.

I do agree though, if you are trying to go to a place, see things that were once thought impossible, and come back with lots of questions, xanax is a complete waste.

I was on Desvenlafaxine(Pristiq) an SNRI for my first and only time trying DMT. If Pristiq has a large effect on 5-HT Receptors then I'm guessing it could definitely alter an experience.

Luckily I'm now 3 weeks clean off Pristiq and my only medication is Atenolol a Beta Blocker and Diazepam when needed.

As for the Beta Blocker, I don't think that would make much of a difference, it would probably
just help with the "Pre-trip" anxiety.

Beta blockers with DMT presents no significant hazard and can have useful anxiolytic properties; as mentioned above benzos can dull the DMT experience unless the dose taken is very small.
I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.

Beyond direct interaction between smoked DMT and beta blockers, I'd be forced to wonder what interaction there could be between DMT and the reason beta blockers are being used.
Its not pepsi. They are often used after heart attacks, to prevent stroke, to help with pathological heart arrhythmias, etc.
If someone is medicated because they had a heart attack recently or is high risk for stroke I'd expect DMT might be a bad idea?
