im just wondering if theres some way to accidentally precip fumaric acid (in more than negligable amounts) during fasa out of xylene

the fasa was filtered and decanted so theres no chance of anything but fasa + xylene

my yield is surprising, but then again fums are bigger than they weigh so well see during a bioassay

some of the decanted then filtered yield did not want to dissolve in water, i ran the rehydrated fumarates and potentially fumaric acid through another filter and evapped the solution. weight to come, testing within 1 week

Ya, I would think mesc fumarate should be soluble in water. Have you tried washing it with dry acetone? Excess fumarates are quite soluble in acetone.

Mescaline fumarate should be very soluble in water. I thinks is possible to precipitate excess fumaric acid when your adding fasa to limo/xylene since FA is completely insoluble in the xylene/limo. Granted adding acetone makes it slightly able to hold Excess FA by changing its polarity from it now being a binary solvent (np/alcohol), but depending on the ratio of acetone/xylene, how saturated with FA the acetone is, and how dry the fasa is, excess FA can and will precipitate.

Best way to clean them up imho, would be dissolving in 2ml distilled water per gram of fumarates and decanting off the water after 30 sec. Do this 3x, and evap the water. Discard what does not dissolve, taste it first though, it should not be at all bitter, just sour from the excess FA.

Excess FA will be much less soluble than the mescaline fumarate. Acetone is not that great at washing away excess FA ime, it works, but a better option is just separating the fumarate cactus alkaloids from most of the excess FA before washing, by dissolving them in minimal cool distilled water. Excess FA is much less soluble in water, mescaline hcl/fumarate salts are extremely soluble in RT water, FA not so much. Perhaps even try dissolving your fumarates in minimal warm distilled water, and putting it in the fridge. FA should crash out, mescaline fumarate should stay soluble so long as you used enough water.

In a society in which nearly everybody is dominated by somebody else's mind or by a disembodied mind, it becomes increasingly difficult to learn the truth about the activities of governments and corporations, about the quality or value of products, or about the health of one's own place and economy.
In such a society, also, our private economies will depend less upon the private ownership of real, usable property, and more upon property that is institutional and abstract, beyond individual control, such as money, insurance policies, certificates of deposit, stocks, etc. And as our private economies become more abstract, the mutual, free helps and pleasures of family and community life will be supplanted by a kind of displaced citizenship and by commerce with impersonal and self-interested suppliers...
The great enemy of freedom is the alignment of political power with wealth. This alignment destroys the commonwealth - that is, the natural wealth of localities and the local economies of household, neighborhood, and community - and so destroys democracy, of which the commonwealth is the foundation and practical means.” - Wendell Berry
