Last night I had a really powerful experience with calea. All I can say is that it's a hell of a drug when dosed properly. (Like anything, as I keep finding out..) I've tried to smoke the stuff on several occasions in the past, but I just had very subtle effects. But last night I tried to make some tea for the first time and I scooped up 2 handfuls of the dried leaves, simmered them for 20 minutes, then strained them carefully through a t-shirt.

The taste, well it wasn't as bad as all the horror stories I've read, in fact it was quite pleasurable with some sugar added, but then again I'm a weirdo with tastes. But what was absolutely stunning was the speed and the power of the effect. I hadn't even drank half of the tea and very soon I started to feel profoundly weird, like time was slowing down and my body was shutting down. I even went to the chat to ask for help because I thought I had used the leaves of something completely other than calea. But apparently calea can be really strong too. (Thanks AG)

After like 10 minutes I had no choice but to go to the bed as my head and eyes were going down on their own and I had no choice in the matter. What I experienced on the bed was like extreme euphoria, like being awake for 10 years and then finally being able to sleep. And my mind was kinda lagging behind so first my body went into a sort of paralysis and I just kept thinking how awesome and relaxing it felt, the ultimate relaxation. It was comparable to like, the best weed euphoria ever , but without all the mental effects of weed.

Shortly after my mind fell asleep too, but throughout the night some really strange things happened. I sometimes woke up like in a sleep paralysis, and my bed had a grid over it and there was this really bright green light that was going over the grid every 5 seconds. Like the bed was being scanned. Everything else was a very deep purple, it was like the green light was surrounded by purples. It was a very beautiful sight to say the least. Then on another occasion I became completely aware in a dream, but it wasn't a dream it was more like hyperspace. I had no body I was just floating in a void and there was VERY familiar geometric patterns slowly morphing into different patterns right in front of me. I could easily draw some of the patterns but the level of intricacy was so deep that I'd need a very big paper and it would take days to draw. There were also waves of checkerpatterns hitting me like coming from a sea and I was the shore. All of the patterns were crystal clear with colors and I had my complete awareness, so it was very profound.

And the thing is, I've had stuff like that before in my dreams, but this time I could feel that it was from the calea, you know like when you can just feel it. The sense of ultimate relaxation was there inside the dream and the sense of awareness was a unique kind. I also had some vivid normal dreams, but they were just the usual dream stuff so I'm not gonna go into them too much. But there was like more checkerpatterns even here, in one of them I was in a palace full of checkerpattern art and in the middle was a pedestal that was pulling me like a magnet.. altho I don't remember what was on the pedestal. And lots of other dreams like that.

Anyway, now that I've awoken I feel really refreshed, like I haven't felt in a loong time. All I gotta say is this calea is really powerful stuff and I will be experimenting more with it now, and will be probably combining the tea with smoking to get even more profound effects... Just thinking about the euphoria I had last night makes my body tingle..

Anyone else experience something strong like this?

EDIT: This might not have been calea after all, as pointed out below. If anyone has any idea what plant was really in question here, please let me know.. as it feels a bit scary to continue experimenting with this when I don't even know what it is..

Would you PM me with where you ordered this from plz? I ordered some recently but I suspected it was bunk...after reading this I really think it was weak.

And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not percieve the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, "brother let me remove the speck from your eye", when you yourself do not see the plank that is in your own eye?-Yeshua ben Yoseph

Today I tried smoking it to see if you could reach the same state. I took like 9 big lungfuls right before a nap, couldnt take more as it was making me cough, but even that was nothing compared to the tea. It seems the tea is really the way to go.. not only does it last longer but it's way more intense .. even tho you get the opposite picture if you read the internets.

Well I'll just write here what I told Eliyahu, I can't remember the vendor and it doesn't read on the bag.. sorry.. But I'm pretty sure it was either a*r*e*n*a*e*t*h*n*o or i*a*m*s*h*a*m*a*n cos those were the places I was ordering from at the time. (if this isn't allowed, a mod can censor them)

i hate to be the one to point this out but, calea CANNOT be made palletable at all. if it wasnt "bad" it wasnt calea. there is no way you to get an effective dose out of something that dosent totally offend your taste buds. this is why i make resin

its also possible you had a powerful dream without the effects of "calea" or the thought that you were taking calea precipitated more profound dreams, much like the placebo effect/intention

regardless you had a profound experience and thats what matters, but as i said before real calea is the most offensive thing i have ever known. infact its so offensive if youre working with it and touch something then later touch whatever it was you touched after working with calea and eat, youll know it immediately as the offensive flavor overpowers all others

also the effects you describe do not sound like calea in the slightest, ive been taking it regularly for the past few years and out of the hundreds of experiences, none of them are remotely close to what you experienced.

im not sure what you took but i can promise you it wasnt calea. i mean 2 handfuls of leaves is alot, really a large dose is 3-5 g, and 2 g is really more than you need. also many people dont have immediate effects from calea and it takes several dosings to start to become aware of its presence (some however do have effects immediately)

the phrase "pleasurable" in no way affiliates with calea's taste. it is the horror story youve heard about.

a buddy of mine made calea tea and actually kind of liked it, said it had a bit of a nice flavor, thats when he knew it wasnt calea, this is a really easy way to tell if its calea or not. the active compounds in calea are what give it its overly offensive flavor so...

no nausea inciting bitterness= not calea

it may be possible you had "sun opener" a different yet potent medicine, whos flavor isnt too terrible

sun opener is known for its yellowing of the visual field and auditory hallucinations and recollection of "prenatal" experiences ie past lives. its is best known as...

"Sinicuichi"

it is also a very lethargaric experience

Hmm that is very interesting.. thank you mew for pointing that out. I have to say I was a bit surprised myself when I noticed the taste was so manageable. But I can assure you that it wasn't only placebo, I wasn't exaggerating when I said it felt like time slowed down and my body was shutting down. But yeah it probably wasn't calea now that you mentioned about the taste.. But also I'm not sure if it was this Sinicuichi either since there was no yellowing or auditory hallucinations... So I'm not really sure what to make of this.. will need to investigate more, starting with finding out which one of those vendors it was from. Weird that they would sell something as calea, that isn't calea..

its commonly mislabeled/identified, might you post a picture of the foliage?

also sun opener does more than yellowed vision and auditory hallucinations and for most people niether of those occur, however musculature lethargy and drowsiness are prominent effects

(my body was shutting down/ my eyelids were droopy)

Here's a pic of the leaves, theyre all mushed up in the bag, those were the most whole parts I could find.. Also a pic of the label (tried googling "SE natural products" but couldn't find anything)

Yeah I guess it does sound more like this sun opener.. But I just checked some other bags I have and noticed arenaethno labels their bags with their name, so I'm fairly confident this was from iamshaman, and they also sell the sun opener so it's really weird that they would mix it up with calea.

Of course it's almost impossible to ID random crushed leaves, but that looks suspiciously like salvia divinorum to me

That doesnt look like sinicuichi, the leaves are too broad and thin. I've grow both common species of sini (H. salicifolia and H. myrtifolia) for 8 years and neither do that under normal outdoor conditions. Tho I suppose H. salicifolia might if grown with loads of shade and moisture. A small bit of potent tea could be made from some and, if its sini, alkaloids would precipitate out within a few minutes of dissolving in a small portion of baking soda. Ammonia doesnt work. Ammonia tube is left, baking soda tube is right. Calea wouldnt precipitate alkaloids.

Unfortunately the false Caleas are actually being harvested for foliage to be sold now, this has been confirmed to me by a dealer of the fake Calea plants. So it may be that mystery plant being peddled as 'sweet' or 'non-bitter' or even 'bitter' Calea that you got.

I dont agree that the real Calea z. is god awful, its actually got a nice sort of buttery herb flavor in there, but BOY is it strongly flavored because of its bitterness Laughing
The flavor is quite unique, I'm experimenting with using it as a spice... few people like my cooking Wink

The stems of the leaves aren't square, only the main stalks of the plant, the texture and color of those leaves look exactly like what I've seen from commercial salvia.

"Of course it's almost impossible to ID random crushed leaves, but that looks suspiciously like salvia divinorum to me"

^thats what i was gunna say dreamer..or like wild dagga or something maybe even..def looks similar to dry salvia though..I think my calea is a big more of a brownish or reddish green but its been so long sinse I even looked at it. I have been thinking about working with calea again though. It's been years and I have so much of it..I want to get a plant also..

...and yeah calea is the most bitter thing out there..even the smoke I remember being bitter.

What is the experience like for you mew? For me I remember waking up with sleep paralysis(though I get that time to time anyway) with vivid hynogogia and dreams etc..
Long live the unwoke.
