Hey guys, using phosphoric acid for an A/B on MHRB. Started with a ph of 3 but after boiling the ph dropped to 1 before I strained it off.

Is this gonna cause any problems other than making it harder to basify later? I know 3-4 is preferable but any lower than that is still ok?

Cheers

Yes, if I remember right Swim used pH 2 hcl solution for a boil once and got nothing from it. I think the dmt decomposes if pH gets too low during a heated pull thats why citric acid or acetic acid is generally used becuase they are more mild. Can anyone confirm this?

Very interested too.

There might be buried posts giving hints, but a forum like this should have (or does it have already?) a sticky table with safe ph range (min and max) for all our beloved rue, caapi, cacti, mimo.

Ok, this morning I checked the ph of the solution once it had cooled and it read 3.

So its the heat that makes the ph appear lower.

So am I still working with a ph of 3 even though it reads 1 when heated? If not how would you get around this? start with a higher ph so that it drops to 3 or 4 when heated, this would seem like a very inaccurate way of doing things?

Yes it seems that way to me, from my own experience my latest yield was terribly poor (1g from a few kgs) as I was using HCL with a ph under 2. Though I did use sea water which may or may not have contributed.

I used such a low PH because my PH kept playing up like the OP. It would read low the read high where as the OP would read high then read low.
