ESSAY CHALLENGE: 100 WORDS OR LESS Psychedelic drug experience have played an enormous role in human history in diverse areas of cultural and spiritual evolution. In the 20th century, psychedelic drugs exploded into this global cultural media world platform of modern society. Psychedelic drug experiences are no longer confined to localized historical cultural use - they are involved in many newfound global contexts: Social controversy, scientific scrutiny, legal restriction and debate, intrapersonal exploration, dedicated internet forums (like DMT Nexus), social and cultural evolution, modern art and music, modern medicine, and more. All this is a rapid and dizzying change in the 10,000+ yrs of the Human-Psychedelic relationship. I very curious how this relationship will evolve, and I am curious how others interested and involved in the use of psychedelics think it will change. So, I propose the following essay challenge: In 100 words or less (4 to 8 sentences), describe what you predict to be the atmosphere and outcome surrounding psychedelic drugs in the world 100 years from now, in 2112?
Any response conveying your thoughts and intuitive feelings as well as very general or specific predictions on this subject are welcome. Cheers! Pandan Pandan attached the following image(s): Earth icon.jpg (4kb) downloaded 223 time(s).

100 years!? I don't even know where to begin in imagining a world 100 years from now. I suppose I could hope that by then the medicinal community may have taken advantage of the substances. Maybe in 100 years our technology will advance to that which appears magical today, and we will pass up speaking to be dancing around displaying/painting our thoughts in real-time in our environment just like the entities. I think that's just the sci-fi fan in me though I look forward to reading the ideas of other members here. The inner soul is full of joy. Reveal my secrets and sew me whole. With each day, "I" heeds your call. You may not care the slightest and may not be the brightest, but from here "I" sees you're mighty for you created it all.
And the jumbling sea rose above the wall.
Through this chaos comes the order you enthrall.

Well, popular science says we have 100 months from January 2008 until we are unable to control runaway climate change. That means by the time Obama (suppose he's reelected) finishes his second term (2016) we will be facing some of the most dramatic climate in the past few thousand years. That said, I believe the world population will wake up to civilization's destructive nature and 2020 will mark the beginning of the golden era. We will start to apply indigenous politics already exemplified by places in South America like Bolivia. We will halt all forms of wide-scale industrial progress and will start to realize the necessity of natural sustainable progress on a wide scale. In this new climate we will be forced to realize the value of natural foods, medicines, and technology. Local government will be of greater importance to the people than national government. As people are forced to reunite together in community the natural healing spirits of the planet will begin to flourish. As more and more become reconnected to the earth, so will their spiritual connection through the use of psychoactive plants. The world will start to realize this cosmic knowledge as application and action. The psychedelic renaissance will begin in 2045 and the second half of the 21st century will complete the revolution of education, community, philosophy, science, & communication. This century looks to be the most promising yet. Let's all stick in it for the long run and stop wasting our time on the doom and gloom. Support indigenous ideals and we'll get back to paradise! Just you see

I have no idea how to make an essay about this so I'm just gonna write a little story on subjectively experiencing the world in a 100 years from now. (also broke the 100 word limit, sorry!)
I'm floating in a blue mist. I appear to have no form, no legs to stand on, no arms to move around, no eyes to see with. Yet I can somehow observe a slightly electric blue mist all around me. This blue is much deeper than the wavelength in the electromagnetic spectrum we used to call blue. It's piercing and mesmerizing. I try to remember why I'm here. I think about the concept of a home, and suddenly a bizarre and complex structure made of tiny crystal shards materializes into the mist in front of me. Is this home? Did I just manifest it into existence with my thought? What else can I manifest? The flow of questions is interrupted when I notice a little animal peering out from within the structure. It's not really an animal but it has a figure not unlike that of animals, with its big black eyes focused into my direction. I seem to be able to hear its thoughts and they are saying, "You exist. You think. I exist. I thank you."

Daeda: wow, beautiful.
The next 100 years, progress wise, will be equivalent to the last 10,000. Our event density curve is approaching perpendicular with no plans to stop. So any predictions are simply science fiction. Here goes:
2112. The nation-state, although still in existence on some maps, is almost totally irrelevant, subsumed by network communities. Our technology has become invisible, and is ubiquitous. We think messages to each other in realtime, work in telepathic conference on projects of all sort, optimizing human problem- solving and boosting our evolution further. We exist in a seamless fusion of real and virtual worlds, our daily experience a multilayered, multidimensional tapestry woven through our entire reality. We work and play with these astounding tools in the searing wastes left by our grandfathers.

its 2121 and jason wakes up regretting his decision to meet the argonian drug dealer marsaak yesterday. the cameras were too close, he was sure they had been seen. Finding the aluchromate container, he carefully opens it hinging the black cyclinder retainer and there it is pure ethaesos blue, a rare psychoactive silicon salt found on the planet aiuortoin. Jason decides if hes going to be busted he may aswell have experienced a decend dosage so he goes in strong, injecting 2 doses into an atomizing graphite/bizalloy vapor pipe, he turns his neuronal processing modulator to full and injests a 'neurotransmithers' health drink. as soon as the vapor touches the back of his throat he can feel the itching sensation light up his spinal cord. as soon as he focuses his attention on the sensation BOOM! he feels as if he get ripped out of his body by the feet, into a maze of creepy shattered glass fractals. jason stops putting his attention into the visuals and looks up in the trip he sees her, the silco bibins gate master, he goes through the gate and doesnt even have to ask where. always the same. sequoia cluster sector 290G-atlantis-B46 Positive change is not forced or made to happen, it is allowed, accepted or acknowledged. Future Earth will be too uniform and not diverse enough about culture and what life forms remain. All will be subsistence efforts, previous generations having ignored the needs of their children. Psychedelics will teach people alive then about empathy, karmic sorrow and diversity for strength, while giving them ideas about how to fix the root human problems, the internal, social, psychological and moral ones. They will remind us of how to use sustainable natural models to replace our non-sustainable ways. They are the only thing capable of allowing people to more successfully reprogram their human life scripts and species future. Mutate your reality tunnels into reality lenses that can be swapped with ease.

Tribal shamanic type use. Upheavals in the earlier quarter of the century have greatly reduced the human population and put us right back into a new stone age....well sort of a renaisance, steampunk/cyberpunk Technology still exists but with no infrastructure, no way to really get at what little fossil fuels still are left, well, it has limited application. Peddle power, wind mills and water mills are all put to extensive use as direct mechanical power--electricity is very rare as it is just not practical nor useful without the fossil fuels and the infrastructure. From this background, a re-emergence of tribal ways, an archaic revival even, was inevitable. What psychedelic are available to a given person within a given tribe is somewhat dependent on where they live. More successful and thriving villages have more opportunities to trade with further away peoples and thus have wider entheogenic options. Pilgrimages are sometimes taken...you could ride a canoe from the missisipi to the amazon to aquire some mimosa root bark, for example. Dangerous, but what a boon you would bring back to your tribe! I think in less than 100 years people will look back and regard us as primitive alarmists when it comes to psychedelics. The legal restrictions and official state propaganda will be seen for the lies they are and there will be another surge of psychedelic exploration. I have a feeling that even in a setting where you don't get in trouble for being associated with psychedelics, only a minority of people will embrace the substances though. The point is that even those who don't partake will be better educated and won't try to restrict other people who are not harming anyone. To this day I remain strongly convinced that integration of psychedelics in our cultures would be extremely benificial to society and individuals who choose to embrace them, in sharp contrast to the official words of authorities of our time. This is the time to really find out who you are and enjoy every moment you have. Take advantage of it.

I distinctly remember reading an article, back in 1998 about a father and son who kyaked or canoed from the Mississippi to the Amazon. It planted an image in my head. I don't remember what route they took. "Whoever undertakes to set himself up as a judge of Truth and Knowledge is shipwrecked by the laughter of the gods." Albert Einstein

The changes from 1912 to now were IMMENSE I wager that even the farthest out predictions can barely fathom the intensity of changes that will occur in that time. I'm gonna go ahead and assume we will experience a fall from endless growth capitalist civilization and will lose much of the electric, business, and political infrastructure that goes with it. People would be living in a Mad Max sort of scenario where they use man and animal power to utilize an underground internet of sorts while also subsisting in non-intensive farming and animal husbandry. The internet would be used for communication across distances and sharing of subsistence tehniques, but, for entertainment a return to music, dancing, and psychedelics would give these hard working people a sense of community. At the same time as the masses scrape by in the wastes, attempting to find enough food to live and enough tryptamines to be entertained. VIP's would live in closed in technological enclaves where they live in luxury yet experience little of the natural earth. Hopefully somewhere in that time we will make contact, through psychedelics, with aliens, gods, or ourselves from the future. This will give us momentum forward culturally. Spirituality will return to its roots in direct experience. Life will be hard on the body but it will feel more REAL and essentially human than Western Capitalist Civilization. In the province of the mind what one believes to be true, either is true or becomes true within certain limits. These limits are to be found experimentally and experientially. When so found these limits turn out to be further beliefs to be transcended. In the province of the mind there are no limits. However, in the province of the body there are definite limits not to be transcended.-J.C. Lilly The Spice must flow Zat was Zen and dis is Dao.

Well you know, something that I wonder about has to do with technological imagery, specifically that of the DMT experience. It makes me wonder if we would perceive the cogs and all that the same way had the DMT been administered in the pre-industrial age (not even taking into account in this hypothetical scenario that DMT wasn't identified, extracted, or known to be smokeable at the time). It makes me wonder if this kind of imagery would have been accessible to our ancestors on high dose psychedelics. So in terms of where DMT may be 100 years from now, if technology continues to progress, then perhaps the DMT experience will reflect that. On the other hand, if high tech cogs and gears and the like were perceived in a pre-industrial society in hyperspace, then without words for them, they would be just as alien and foreign to them as some of the other hyper-technologies are to us. If this is the case, then it could very well be that the outlandish technology our society perceives on DMT, represents the future or potential of technology such that in 100 years, our technology might be all the closer to resembling the gizmos and gadgets of hyperspace. Global whoah that is really interesting food for thought.. it makes sense that the psychedelic experience would evolve with the times and the environment, and would accumulate all the previous knowledge to it, so that it would always kind of extrapolate a glimpse into the possibilities of the future. So haha if you think the psychedelic experience is ineffable now, try thinking about a psychedelic experience in a 100 or 1000 years....
