What a coincidence! I just performed a little experiment this past weekend involving this very application.
Using 1g x 2 of solid jungle wax (placed in seperate beakers), I added 150mL of HOT xylene to one, stirring until completely dissolved, and 30mL room-temp. acetone to the other (which finally dissolved completely after much stirring & small amounts of heat). Both solutions were then filtered through a material equivalent to that of 10 coffee filters, into flat glass dishes. The xylene solution held the same (or very close to) tint of yellow as it had held before filtration. The acetone solution, however, came through quite a bit clearer. Both were evap.ed in an open-air environment w/ much circulation. After a mere couple of hours the acetone solution had completely dried, leaving pancake-style crystal formations which were scraped into a whiter, more crystalline pile of jungle wax. Approx. 36 hours after the commencement of this experiment, the xylene dish had completely evap.ed, leaving pancake-crystals almost exactly equal (color & consistency) to those from whence it came (which was quite close to the expected result for this solution).
