There are two local legends where I live. I love hearing local legends because it just shows how many unique and weird things their are in our world.

The first is the Myakka Skunk Ape (basically Big Foot). You can hear monkey howling late at night sometimes. And a lady sent a letter to the police one time because she saw it. http://www.lorencoleman.com/images/letter_low.jpg

The other one is about Myakka Gold, the best weed in the world at the time. Basically a bunch of Farmers around the area grew this amazing weed and made a bunch of money. The main guy Donnie Clark got arrested and then later was pardoned by Clinton. Myakka Gold is actually a true story, here's link for the full story its pretty cool. It should be made into a movie. http://www.heraldtribune...120119/ARTICLE/120119475

Does any else have any cool local legends where they live?

This guy around my way was at a festival one time....he was walking about on his happy way
with a camera in one hand and a nitrous balloon in the other.

Later on he regained consciousness, with an empty balloon (green balloon) hanging out of his ass crack. On his camera was new photo, a rediculous photo of himself, face down in a field, green balloon hanging out of his rear end.

Well, the kid is a legend in my book.

I appreciate your perspective.

not a 'stoner' legend, but there are old native (ahtna athabascan) tales of essentially a big foot living at the base of a nearby mountain.

when hiking kinda near there i heard some strange vocal noises, and then twigs breaking and other audible signs of a large animal moving.

the (now dead) "tribe grandmother" used to warn children never to play in the woods nearby the base of the mountain.

also tons of ufo sightings, one of which my friends got on film (They were tripping on shrooms and had to take video to confirm it wasn't a shared hallucination)

as far as stoner legends go, there is the story of "matanuska thunderfuck" was a strain of weed that supposedly almost went extinct and dr. greenthumb has clones of it.
it was commonly known as alaskan thunderfuck before i moved to ak.

I don't know if the Myakka Skunk Ape is real or not. But if Jane Goodall said there could be Sasquatches, who am I to say there aren't any. Jane Goodall got shot by poachers before so in my book she's as hardcore as they come.
