Apparently Mitt Romney was involved in turning Monsanto from a lying toxic waste spilling company in to one of the largest GMO agriculture companies in the world.

What do y'all make of that? Personally, it disgusts and slightly worries me. Of course I firmly oppose GMO's and almost throw up when I think of monopolistic agriculture as well as most politicians.Thumbs down

This is the man who famously declared, "Corporations are people". If the general public weren't so brainwashed, the guy wouldn't have a chance.

Agent Orange, aspartame, bovine growth hormones, their stranglehold on the agricultural seed industry. Monsanto are a greedy ruthless corporation. Here's a decent documentary about Monsanto http://video.google.com/...cid=-4867493254318912106

One of the most singularly evil companies on the planet... hands down.

And that is really saying something, as corporations tend to be soulless monsters in general.

I read that Mother Jones article myself yesterday. Glad to see the info getting spread around. As much as these elections are just sideshow theater IMHO designed to make people feel that their government is actually responsive to them... this Mitt Romney character is one of the worst politicians to come along since Rove & Cheney practically gutted the US and stuffed for a trophy.

Obama may be somewhat complicit to corporate interests... but Romney is a walking automaton of corporate interests personified. (Only automatons tend to have more personality)

Booooo.

Romney versus Obama are yet another case of not having any decent choice for the president.

In Romney we have a guy with the corporate raider mentality who claims to be a producer who really does nothing good for the average American. In Obama we have a man with a Marxist background who has never run a business or done anything significant other than build a political career in the politically corrupt cesspool of Illinois.

Notice how Obama has distanced himself from Mr. Blagojevitch who is in prison now. Yeah I ramble, and yes I am disgusted by the elections this year once again. It is my observation that to run for president of the USA you have to be a complete megalomaniac and sociopath.

Back to the topic... Monsanto is the perfect business model for a guy like Romney to support. It gets a handful of people rich at the expense of the masses who are poisoned by the products which Monsanto peddles. Now instead of incidental poisoning by industrial chemicals, the poison is being built into the genes of the seeds they sell for the food supply. It appalls me the lack of scientific study that has been done to check the safety of genetically engineered foods.
Everything mentioned herein has been deemed by our staff of expert psychiatrists to be the delusional rantings of a madman who has been treated with Thorazine who is hospitalized within the confines of our locked facility. This patient sometimes requires the application of 6 point leather restraints and electrodes at the temples to break his delusions. Therefore, take everything mentioned above with a grain of salt...

the evil just keep gettin' eviler-

And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not percieve the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, "brother let me remove the speck from your eye", when you yourself do not see the plank that is in your own eye?-Yeshua ben Yoseph

Apparently Walmart are to start stocking Monsanto GM products with no advice to the consumer that the products are of GM origin. Studies carried out on rats raised on a GM diet found that 70% of female rats and 50% of male rats died prematurely as a result of their GM diet. http://12160.info/m/blog...9739%3ABlogPost%3A997353

With it becoming increasingly difficult for farmers to buy non Monsanto seeds http://www.globalresearc...modified-seeds-in-india/ perhaps it is time to grow your own?

Doesn't always help, as the GMO plants pollinate plants in an astoundingly wide region. Plenty of organic farmers miles and miles from the nearest agribiz farm have found their original, all-natural strains cross-pollinated "accidentally" with Monsanto pollen.

As if the polluting and destroying of all the native seedstock wasn't egregious enough... Monsanto regularly sues these farmers for illegally growing patented Monsanto genetic material and winds up taking over their farms!

I know of at least a dozen cases where Monsanto pollen was carried from the US over the border into Canada and ruined the bio-crops being grown their as well.

Basically it is impossible to avoid these round-up ready products. They are omnipresent, nearly always unlabeled, and completely untested... at least there are no tests on long term human exposure that they have shared with us.

Not to sound a conspiratorial note... but this IS the company that hid clear evidence of PCB poisoning and chose to continue polluting long after they were proven liable because it was simply cheaper to pay off the fines and complaints than to change their business model.

These are the guys that brought the world Agent Orange and DDT... and we are supposed to trust them? I trust them all right... Trust that they will do whatever it takes to scratch out a few more bucks in any given fiscal quarter. I trust that they feel entitled to call organisms that developed in nature for millions of years THEIR intellectual property. I trust them to continue to produce tons and tons of poison and lie about the safety hazards. I trust them in quite a lot of things actually.
