just outta curiosity, has anyone tried to use h2o2 as an acid? wikipedia says its a mild acid. possibly it can be used to pull limo or whatnot... also what alkaloid salt would this create? peroxide?

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

I don't think you would want to use hydrogen peroxide since peroxides tend to be really good oxidizers and you will possibly end up oxidizing your DMT to DMT-oxide which is probably not what you want. Since you probably are referring to the 3% store-bought kind (which can be turned into a 30% solution but takes some time and equipment), the acidity will probably not be great at all, probably near 7. Wikipedia says it's pH is 6.2 at 99% purity and as low as 4.2 in a 60% solution which is pretty difficult to obtain without ordering it or working in a lab. Also, the dissociation constant (pKa) given on wikipedia is 11.75 which isn't very high at all (lower pKa = higher acidity) so you aren't going to have a very strong acid either. Also, it decomposes at higher temperature so if you have to do any process with it that includes heat, you'd just end up boiling it off and turning it into water which won't help your situation.

Hope that answer helped. Try another acid, you might just get lucky.

Note: Most compounds, even bases, can act as acids; it just depends on the reaction and environment that compound is in. Of course, don't try using NaOH as an acid because that requires some uncommon environmental settings not available to most people.

It will oxidize DMT not only into N-Oxide but apparently into other possibly unwanted compounds as well, as some preliminary tests I've done have shown. Also it might react with some solvents to, so yeah forget about it. Why not vinegar, or citric acid or fumaric acid or something?

It's good for hydroponic systems Smile Oxygenates and kills bacteria.

H2O2...IF you end up with 99 pct and it gets warm, then....BOOM! "Pure" H2O2 is explosive. You can get a stronger solution by freezing. The water will solidify and the H2O2 won't. All this said, it's not going to be an acceptable source of Hydrogen ions.
