“The Mayan calendar points to the end of one great cycle of time, but the beginning of a new cycle in alignment with the Galactic center.
This brings in special energies of transformation; This winter solstice and celebrations around the World at sacred sites specially at the Mayan pyramids are pointing to the dawn of planetary civilization.
What I love about December 21st, winter solstice 2012, is the way the love tribe all wants to get together and celebrate. You hear that the calendar is ending but some say it’s a time of new beginnings.
Celebrate new beginnings with us at the Mayan Riviera…
At the Time and Space 2012 Festival experience!!
See you there!”

yeah, the Greys always seem to mention "planetary civilization" also "global society".

I don't know, do we really need a one world government? New world order? Just sayin', it's weird and a little creepy for this psychedelic guru to be always mentioning NWO, but in nicer terms. Mind you, I am not saying any thing, one way or the other, but it is eyebrow raising, and a pink elephant is in the room.

I almost feel like I would rather boycott going to the mayan pyramids than going, after watching a recent video about the whole 2012 myth and the how the mayan really feel about it.

Right now, the mayan people are actaully legally not allowed to even conduct their own sacred fire ceremonies at the pyramid sites anymore because it detracts from the whole tourist scene there which makes the government big money. They have limited access as it is to these things that IMO belongs to them..it is the heritage of their people and they are not even allowed to conduct the ceremonies these places were built for anymore?

No at this time my feelings on being a tourist in that area are not nice.

I really REALLY want to go see these sites..but I dont like the way the government is using the mayan culture for financial gain at the expense of the mayan people..and I dont like how the new agers have been distorting mayan beliefs for financial gain at the expense of the mayan people.

Build your own damn temples lol.

BTW, I like alex grey a lot and I like the idea of people comming together in celebration of this alignment..because personally I see enough around me to believe that there is something special about this time and I think the maya and other peoples knew this.

I just really dont like how the mayan people have been treated. Most people do not know anything about the mayan genocide in guatemala that was really instigated by the US military..nor do they understand how the tourist scene in mexico and central america has capitalized on the culture of these people, while essentially leaving the mayan people themselves poor and cut off from what is rightfully their own.

I find it sad how the new age culture has run with these ideas, and furthered all of this..never actaully stopping to look at the mayans themselves as an existing people who are hurting and being misrepresnted by all of this. These are real people not just fantacy characters in the newest Daniel Pinchbeck book etc..

There are 2012 conferances in mexico all about the mayans etc..half the time with no real mayans even invited..many people who write books on the subject never met a mayan in their life.

Did anyone ever ask the mayan people if it was okay for them to hold all these crazy new age events at the sacret sites of their ancestors?..or did they just pay the government who are suppressing these peoples rights some money for permission?
Long live the unwoke.

CoSM is of course in the process of building their own temples. Outrageously expensive affairs that take a lot of coin. I am sure they are getting nicely compensated for this appearance.

"CoSM is of course in the process of building their own temples."

Yeah and this is something I really love about CoSM and Alex Grey..It's better that find our own inspiration and build our own culture from a grassroots level..the money aspect is daunting though..I hope something good comes from all of this..

I of course am a fan of alex's paintings and some of his writing as well. I like the fact that they hold a full moon gathering for every moon, and have done so since moving into their new land...I like some of the stuff they do.

But I also have mixed feelings.

The CoSM logo is an eye in the triangle. Alex painted that horrible thing with Obama (NDAA anybody?)...the chapel of sacred mirrors of course functioned out in the open during the entire Bush years (when innocent headshops were getting shut down by the feds), they mention "planetary civilization" and "global society" all the time, and often in such a context that it sort of does sound like one-world government, one-world religion ect.(though it could be interpreted another way....) I generally stay away from CT both in this forum and out of it, but damn, these cosm people just hit every CT bell they can find. Of course in his Gaia painting there is the whole 911 "premonition" thing. I don't know what they are really up to. They are all into the mystery traditions, egypt, Elusis, rosicrucian ect and consider themselves a part of that, as such, secretiveness is the m.o.

I'd rather believe they are all about the love and the earth and expanded healthy consciousness type stuff like they claim...and I hate asking these questions. But seriously, in the above paragraph, I'm pointing out some stuff that maybe someone else would have noticed...how come I never see anyone saying WTF?!

And the general way they are going about this temple thing, not a very organic approach at all. big money. BIG carbon footprint. The greys posted something online a few months ago, where alex and alison took an entourage to the Egypt and posed a riddle to the Sphinx.

cosm newsletter wrote:
Because the Sphinx, an Earth Altar, is good at riddles, we brought the mystery, "How can humanity help heal and not destroy the web of life?"

I'm not a sphinx myself, but I'll try. Ahem, stop flying jet planes all over the world and use less fuel, for starters. Seriously Alex, you painted an image of Julia Butterfly and had her speak at one of your conferences last year and you talk about healing the web of life. Can you maybe lead by example a little bit?

I confess myself befuddled by cosm and I have no idea what they are really about.
