I got a new san pedro catus in april, it now has 7 ridges and the arm that is growing off it has 5 ridges. All my other pups have six on the main stock and any arms growing off them. Does anyone know if The seven and five ridge catus will produce mutated alkaloids that may be stronger or weaker? I'm just curious to see if there's any collective knowledge on this subject. Thanks!
I love all of you!

Lol nope. Probably just makes regular alkaloids.

Not only is there no evidence of "mutated alkaloids," whatever those might be, from mutated SP, a change in the number of ribs doesn't really qualify as a mutation. That's just a normal part of cactus growth.

Look up pachanoi monstrosa and pachanoi cristata if you want to see mutants.

the natural next question would be...

Do mutant alkaloids cause human beings to transform into swamp thing like creatures??

And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not percieve the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, "brother let me remove the speck from your eye", when you yourself do not see the plank that is in your own eye?-Yeshua ben Yoseph

IIRC correctly, the different numbers of ribs mean different things in traditional use. I don't know enough about that to say more though. Looking forward to an eventual trip to the Andes!
