A month ago, at the Seattle Hempfest, there was a guy there selling two types of cacti. I recognized the San Pedro, but there was another that I didn't recognize, and I asked him about it and he said that it was a Totem Pole Cactus. I asked him for more information about it, and he said that it wasn't very well known, but the cactus has an active chemical that is similar to Mescaline (I believe he called it Buferin, but I'm not sure). He said that most of those that know of it are natives.

Now I don't know if he was full of shit or not, but I haven't been able to find any information on this cactus' psychoactivity, or anything at all on the chemical Buferin (if I remember and am spelling correctly). He could very well have been full of shit, but I'm still curious to see if any of you know anything about this.

If it helps, I think the scientific name is Lophocereus Schottii Monstrose.

Live plants. Sustainable, ethically sourced, native American owned.

Well gee... I don't think he meant to be talking about aspirin...

You don't know anything about this cactus' psychoactivity?

lol aspirin cactus..

"In total about 56 alkaloids (eg. Tyramine and Peyonine to name a few more) have been found in Lophophora, mostly unique to that genus. Alkaloids have also been found in many of the Mexican columnar cacti like the Pachycereinae subtribe e.g. Lophocereus and Pachycereus genera." -http://www.cssnz.org/chemicals-in-cactus.php

"A detailed examination of the alkaloids of the cactus Lophocereus Schottii has resulted in the isolation of two new alkaloids, piloceredine and lophocerine in addition to the previously described pilocereine; quaternary alkaoloids were not encountered"
-journal abstract

"Contains: lophocereine, pilocereine."
