I've been experimenting alot with recrystallization of my precious crystals. I've being really trying to get those beautiful chrysanthemum crystals and/or solid shards that i've seen so often on the nexus. Its not so much that i'm concerned about the purity as it is my desire to "play with my food" per se. I really like supersaturating my solvent and watching that instantaneous crystallization that occurs.

I have mainly used Naphtha up until this point for all my re-x needs but recently purchased some Bestine - Rubber Cement Thinner(heptane) as i've always read that it works wonders for the recrystallization process. I don't know if i have a problem here or not but i want to relate my experience to some more experienced folks and compare results.

I'm noticing that after a couple recrystallizations of my white powder DMT, that i'm getting the nice hard peices of DMT crystal that i was looking for. I think i got better looking crystals with my naphtha, but they never got hard enough to where i could remove them from the re-x vessel without breaking them all up again.

Over the weekend i took 1.2gs of nice white fluffy DMT and re-x'd it twice in warm heptane. I ended up with a big thick chunk of off-white dmt about the side of a quarter along with some shrapnel that broke off of the main peice. I swear it looks like a big chunk of crack rock or something. lol. No particular crystalline structure that is visible to the naked eye, but just a brittle chunk of whitish deemster. I let all of the solvent evaporate and put it into a storage container. The weird thing about the resulting DMT is that it smells different than any DMT that i've ever smelled before. It almost has an "orangey" smell. Like a very very light citrus smell instead of the normal kind of "flowery" smell that i've become accustomed to. I don't know if perhaps the solvent left traces in the product or what. (i should mention i'm using a standard STB with a 1g/1g/15ml MHRB/NaOH/H2O ratio and doing my initial pulls with naphtha)

I've also used the heptane to re-x all of my jungle spice sludge into some really nice sparkly brownish-red goodness, and some light tan flakey goodness. Both of those re-x's smell pretty much as expected but this hard chunky dmt rock has a totally different smell than what i'm used to. Like i said, its almost orangey. Kind of like the smell of suboxone if anyone knows that smell.

Does anyone have any idea what i'm talking about? Is this normal?

if you haven't already chop that hard piece up as fine as you can and leave it out in open air for a few hours. then put back in its stoage container, close it, and reopen to smell.

only thing i can really think of.
