Bob and Jim recently obtained some dmt for the first time.
Bob and Jim are fairly expereienced in psychedlics (tripped on shrooms, salvia, etc.)
They know how serious DMT can be so decided to baby step into a breakthrough.

One night, Bob decided this was it.
He packed the bubbler with some weed and some yellowesque dmt.
After taking a few hits and maybe 5-10min, he takes 2 huge rips and long inhales, INSTANTLY he lost entire conciousness with reality. Jim took Bob's pipe while he lied back in his bed.
After 10-15 minitues Bob sat up and said:

"It was as if the entire room went black, a portal opened up on the ceiling. My soul was lifted through the portal and I was being looked down upon Giant Anubian Guardians (from egypt) They watched over me and dropped me back into the room. The room was plastered with colors and faces moving rapidly"

Jim (after hearing the story) decides its time to do this for himself.
He packs the bubbler and adds more dmt onto it with more weed-there was still a lot of dmt left over from Bob's hits.
Jim sits back in his chair and adds spanish romantic guitar music to soothe his nerves.
Jim takes 2 GIANT rips and holds them for as long as he can.
After his second hit:

"It was as if someone strapped me into a jetpack and lifted me off. It felt as if I was being lifted higher and higher into the atmosphere. I opened my eyes and the spanish music started playing louder and louder. Each string was humming louder and louder until the sound wave penetrated my entire existance, it was very painful. The entertainment system furniture started talking to me. Demandning me to turn off the music. I got up turned it off and jumped into my bed hoping the trip would end soon. For the ringing/humming didn't stop till I came back to reality."

Questions:
This is the second time Jim has felt pain/agony from a humming sound while tripping...Is this normal?

Pain/agony is not my usual trip, I usually experience an intense euphoria. The ringing is commonly called the Carrier Wave and is detailed in the Hyperspace Lexicon.

I don't always have a carrier wave accompanying my trips however. Also I believe there are multiple levels to a breakthrough but so long as you become immersed in hyperspace I say it counts. Breakthroughs make most my CEVs look like a kid's coloring book. Both are incredible but a true breakthrough has no comparison to anything I can imagine in this reality. Or maybe I'm imagining all of it so u cab imagine it...but I won't take that any further.
