The shop I went to said it increases psychic powers. What do you think? Or should I save my money instead so I can buy what I need to attempt an extraction? disclaimer: cirquefreak333 is a fictional character used in a novel I am writing, and none of the things a real person may type is anything a real person, living or dead, ever experienced or thought

dont know about psychic power, but I believe the Native Americans used it for long journeys, to alleviate hunger and thirst, and give a energy boost. I have used it on many hikes (quid) and it is bitter, but enjoyable, and i can walk for hours without being thirsty. It is usually very inexpensive, try online.

There are different types of calamus. Beside that, i believe that freshness is also a factor. I have had some experiences with it, in low to moderate doses (i don´t remember how much exactly). It definately does seem to have a psychedelic effect, comparable with LSA-seeds: not very visual but trippy nonetheless. But i wouldn´t know how much (and wich species) you should take of it to have a realy powerfull psychedelic experience. I´ve heard that large doses cause nausea, but a former nexusmember, 69ron, claimed that washing the stuff with aceton before extracting it with water, makes it less nauseating and more psycho-active.

I read on erowid that a strain of it from asia is carceogenic, how would I know if an online vender if it is the safe strain? In the shop I can ask them what strain it is. I found a site where I could buy it but I don't know what strain it is and another one, but you have to buy a large amount. disclaimer: cirquefreak333 is a fictional character used in a novel I am writing, and none of the things a real person may type is anything a real person, living or dead, ever experienced or thought

I think one of the reasons that calamus is popularly thought of as a psychedelic is because it occurs in the modern Bible as one of the ingredients of the annointing oil given in the book of exodus... As many people are aware this was actually a mistranslation from the Hebrew Kana Bosem which is cannabis. (university of Israel study, 1980) personally I have heard calamus can make you sicker than most things and does not do hardly anything in the way of making you trip... And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not percieve the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, "brother let me remove the speck from your eye", when you yourself do not see the plank that is in your own eye?-Yeshua ben Yoseph

cirquefreak333 wrote:Is aceton bad for you? And how do you get it? The aceton is used to extract the 'poisonous' substances from the calamus. The aceton extract should therefore not be ingested. It is used only to get the poisonous, nauseating substances out of the plant material. It is then extracted with water and this water-extract is supposed to have strong psychedelic effects. I don´t know if this realy works. The guy who invented this method was known for making all kinds of claims. Some of wich later turned out to be just marketing-talk for his own webstore.

I ate an ounce of it dried years ago, that was a mistake. (unpleasant effects)
I would leave it alone.
