Assuming (Of course) that when we die we experience another life completely alien to this one. Regardless of what its like, if you could remember the connections you had as a human to loved ones which you no longer had in a completely different reality would it bother / upset / frighten you? The idea of dieing and my spirit leaving the ones I love is scary to me but then that may be why we cannot recall past lives in our normal state of mind (Again assuming, I have no categorized belief system I'm just thinking out loud here). What are your thoughts ? -Technique It’s very dynamic, like the flow of water that travels through a stream leading to a river and flowing out to sea. Well my first thoughts are that it would be sort of confusing and unnecessary to remember those details of a past life, especially if your new life is completely alien to the other. Can't say it would bother me, but it seems as if I would be very puzzled about what these memories would be We wouldn't be able to assume they are memories from a past life...maybe we DO remember past lives, but we regard them as something totally different...

Well i guess it would depend on the quality of the life i previously had (pleasant/unpleasant), and how it compared to the life i have now, which determined whether or not the memory bothered me. but really, i don't buy into the standard model of reincarnation at all. i could be wrong of course, but in my opinion its way too simple to explain whats really going on. i've gone into in depth sequences in dreams, meditation, and on psychedelics where i've lived parts of the lives of countless people (or so it seemed..), both modern and ancient. But I think its a huge oversimplification to just assume that all of these were just my 'past lives'
<Ringworm>hehehe, it's all fun and games till someone loses an "I"

-Whatisreal (Like the name) Yes that's true but say you could clearing remember your family and the connections you had with those people. Asif you had went straight from Christmas dinner to another dimension with the thoughts still vivid in your head. I suppose what I mostly thought when posing the question is the thought of would I wish that I could go back to my past life? And how long would I think that before I was immersed in my new reality. Of course change is inevitable but sometimes it is hard to let go of the past . -Universecannon Yes I agree but I think the standard model of a lot of subjects may be completely wrong with what little information we really know. When you feeling like you are living a past life on psychedelics is it the feeling of just knowing that this is whats happening in the experience because that is what puzzles me with a lot of dreams. There was no indication that something was happening except I knew it clear in my mind in the time of the dream. Perhaps while in these states we are thrown into a body of experience and knowledge giving us the affirmative thought in our heads of whats really happening in the situation. Which I think makes a lot of sense if you was to compare it yourself sitting at your computer chair and suddenly being launched into space. You probably would be thinking 'okay we are going to meet the wizard' and more 'what the fuck is happening' . (Hope that makes sense and isn't crazy talk). Do you have any personal beliefs on the subject of living different lives or as me do you think it is unfathomable for the human mind to truly comprehend. -Technique It’s very dynamic, like the flow of water that travels through a stream leading to a river and flowing out to sea. This is what scares me as well, falling in love and losing them in the next life. My romantic view of reincarnations is that you meet your soul mate in each life, I think I found my soul mate but he refuses to talk to me in this life which is heart shattering. His name is Damon, I am almost certain that he was my soul mate in a past life. I was telepathically communicating with him only it wasn't real, at least he wasn't aware that it was occuring, but I could have met his soul. I miss him so much and hope I will meet him again in my next life if reincarnation is a real thing, and constantly wonder if I knew him and if he was a lover or soul mate in a past life. It hurts my soul that he won't talk to me. disclaimer: cirquefreak333 is a fictional character used in a novel I am writing, and none of the things a real person may type is anything a real person, living or dead, ever experienced or thought

If you two don't end up together, then you didn't "loose you're soulmate", he's clearly just not you're soulmate to begin with..so theres no logical reason to worry about it! If he won't talk to you, then let him do his own thing and let go..it will get easy with time and eventually you'll find your better for it.. you deserve better anyways, so be yourself and let him do the same. also, i would be very wary of clinging to mental constructs about lovers/soulmates/reincarnation and mistaking them for reality

I hope you're right, that it will get easier. I dream about him each night and then wake up depressed and missing him. It's that strong of a feeling/sense. What do you mean by mental constructs? I know that there's no way to know for sure what reality is. disclaimer: cirquefreak333 is a fictional character used in a novel I am writing, and none of the things a real person may type is anything a real person, living or dead, ever experienced or thought

You Can't Depend on Others For Your Happiness. Take the subject lightly. If we are just spirits in human body's then we might aswell have fun . Sound advice and easy to say, but when the time comes to face the music i doubt many ppl are able to pass this test.
