Hello All,
I obtained a PhD in the field of Natural Products chemistry from a southeastern US university almost a decade ago and am currently working with an industry company. I have 10+ years of laboratory and scholarly experience in the scientific field. I joined the forum for the pleasure of discussing the chemistry of psychoactive substances and the pharmacology of their interaction with the human brain (and consciousness).
The natural products science field is now highly interdisciplinary and involves familiarity with and use of techniques from all of the following fields and more:
Chemistry (Organic, Inorganic, Analytical) Pharmacology / Medicine Biology / Microbiology Botany / Taxonomy Ethnobotany / Anthropology Ecology / Geology Biochemistry / Enzymology Genetics / Molecular Biology
I am happy to offer expertise and participate in discussion regarding many scientific aspects of natural psychoactives - a favorite hobby topic of mine.
Cheers, Pandan

Hey welcome youve picked a great group to be a part of! Glad to have another chemist on board . --------------------------------------------------*Kash's LSA Extraction* * Kash's Mescaline Extraction*------------------------------------------------------ All things I say are complete and utter ramblings of nonsense. Do not consider taking anything iterated from the depths of my subconsciousness rationally and/or seriously.

So whats your experience with DMT/psychedelics, if any? Did you try ayahuasca yet? What about extractions of natural compounds? Be well!

I have experimented with psychoactives and psychedelics pretty extensively in the past few decades. To sum up the experience simply, I have ingested or experimented with about 130 of the 340 entries listed on Erowid's Big Chart Index (http://www.erowid.org/general/big_chart.shtml). I do it for curiosity, research, learning, knowledge, adventure, novelty, medicine, recreation, or pleasure. Ayahuasca/DMT is among the very greatest of all substances on earth in terms of potential positive benefit to humans. To me, that is a fact and the primary reason I joined this forum instead of another. I performed an extraction on 1 lb of Mimosa hostilis root bark some time back and yielded 1 g of 95%+ crystalline DMT for personal use. I have had five experiences with Ayahuasca/DMT. I have intermediate level technical experience with natural products extraction in general but am certainly not an expert. The chemistry, pharmacology, and neurochemistry of bioactives and psychoactives is interesting for its own sake but most fascinating is the spiritual, mystical, and philosophical aspects. The depth and variety of effects that different substances have on sensation, perception, and consciousness, for better or for worse, is utterly incredible. Cheers!

Cheers! Firstly welcome to the Nexus... 1 gram for ~440grams of starting material seems pretty small. I'd think 4-8 grams would be more typical. In any event welcome you will find good company here. Lots of scientists and mystically minded people... Peace If your religion, faith, devotion, or self proclaimed spirituality is not directly leading to an increase in kindness, empathy, compassion and tolerance for others then you have been misled.
