A friend and I decided to try making cold brewed coffee with vodka instead of water. We added 6Oz of vodka to 6 scoops of ground coffee. Soaked for 2 days. This stuff made me feel amazing, but not like regular coffee or etoh. It was more euphoric and I felt incredibly lucid for haVing consumed 3 Oz of etoh.

Does anyone know if there are compounds in coffee that are insoluble in water but are soluble in ethanol? If they exist I would advocate exploring them!

Sounds interesting, what effects did u experience that don't normally come from caffeine or alcohol?

I normally can only have a small amount of coffee per day. Even a second cup usually makes me jittery. I didn't experience that at all. We each had 3 oz of infusion, and I didn't get the shakes at all. I felt jazzed up and excited. I didn't feel tired from the alcohol (prob. the caffeine). I had a lot of good vibes. Normally 2 drinks does very little to me, but with this I was really feeling good. My vision was also affected, but its hard to describe - it's not what most people call "visuals" but something was up.

I'm going to try that. I have full-leaf boxed tea, going to substitute instead. I have a question though is there much of a difference in cold extract over a slightly heated one(boiling them makes it tannic), I don't wanna wait long, perhaps a day at most. Thinking of a fistful of quality tea-leaves and 375ml of vodka. Also gonna add 1 fresh jalapeno for some capsaicin, that can't hurt. Gonna report on the results.

Also... Tea leaves are so dry I'm not sure if I should do quick pre-soak in cold water or just make a hot water bath for the tincture.

Man, I do like the sound of this. I am a coffee fiend. Just discovered cold brewed coffee the other day. Apparently it took 12 hours, using coarse ground bean. Definitely not for instant gratification...

Started my little experiment. Gonna modify it for a bit though. Took a fistful of loose tea, this brand(seems like high quality).

http://www.ahmadtea.com/...-1/english-tea-no-1.html

Preaheated half a cup of water, with a pinch of fumaric acid(break down the cells?). Cooled down lightly fumaric water, soaked the foliage, put in the freezer for the night. Gonna unfreeze it, strain the water out and dump the foliage into 375ml of vodka. Add 1 minced fresh jalapeno. Then bring it up to near simmer in hot water bath and then put it back into the freezer, after a few hours reheat it again and strain everything out. Gonna take 1 shot(and then more? Shocked ) of it while its hot and see where it takes me.

I hot brewed once using a percolator (didn't use flame). The taste was horrible but it was definitely a nice jumpstart for the evening. How does cold brewing work?
Do you really just throw beans into the water and wait?

I've never had any, but did a search to see what the general opinion on brewing coffee w vodka was around the net and found this recipe:

btw, i guess all the warnings concerning vodka+redbull apply here as well.
