Hi all! My friend was wondering if anyone had advice on what to do about the thin layer of naptha that you cannot retrieve w/o getting the bottom solution along with it? Just seems like a waste to throw it away. My friend is currently using a chef mate flavor injector....there are no glass turkey basters around here. Thanks in advance for any input

Do many pulls, so that when next pull is added, it will mix with that small amount and therefore you wont lose it. In the last pull, there should be very little DMT so it wont be too bad to waste it, but anyways you can always transfer the liquid to a thinner taller container, and this will make the layers thicker and therefore easier to separate

Another option you could try that works is using a syringe to remove the final naptha.
Using the syringe suck all of the naptha up, you will also get quite a bit of the rootbark mixture, you then hold it pointing the syringe down so all the stuff you don't want falls to the tip and the naptha sits on top then just squeeze out the rootbark mix leaving you with the last bit of naptha. Basically a cheap alternative to a separation funnel. Swim found that a 50 ml syringe did the job very nicely.

Make sure to check the type of plastic your syringes is and if it contains any other materials that could be potentially dissolved by the naphtha. I have various syringes at home and the packaging says a 2 with a crossed circle. Google says that's HDPE. Here's a list of plastic numbers and what they means: http://ecovillagegreen.com/903/what-do-the-plastic-recycling-numbers-mean/What about the syringe rubber stopper? The spice extends life. I usually transfer it from my wide extraction jug into the skinniest vessel that i own. Which in my case is a tall/super skinny glass. Rather than having a really wide/thin layer of naphtha leftover it will now be a skinny/thicker layer. This makes it easier for me to extract that final little bit off there. After that i usually just cut my losses and move on. For example, i transfer the remaining naphtha plus usually a little bit of the MHRB/H2O/LYE solution from my big gallon sized glass jug into something like this Much easier to get the rest of the naphtha if its in a thin container Coinci-Transcendentalism
