then i was in clear light, except that there is no 'i' when one is there. an egoless state of being, one with all, actually the guy whose post i read does a great job describing it.
i found myself in the same place as i had been about a year previously. i had become a disciple of a yogi, and had been meditating. this was an inward experience, a focused lack of focus, if that makes any sense, and without the chemical imperative of lsd.
it is easy to conclude that the one took me to the other. but i try to stay away from conclusions, as most of mine are proven inadequate over time. i prefer to keep an open mind, to suspend belief, and attempt to take the experience for what it is. it is a feeble attempt at understanding, but the best i can do.
Welcome aboard
clairby,
Your external vision of a giant frog sounds more like the product of some type of visionary/deliriant plant byproduct. Sounds like a proverbial example of a classic hallucination. NN-DMT creates more of a visionary tapestry throughout one's perceptual field. The vivid fractal designs and interconnected energy patterns are palpable upon everything one looks at. And when one turns this lens inside one's own mind... KABOOM!
The gigantic amphibian parallels similar visions of enormous insects, reptiles (especially snakes). Reminds me of something from a Carlos Castaneda book. Perhaps a datura derivative of some sort?
Or something nastier, like PCP or something equally notorious? Especially back in the "good ole days", we often took things we didn't exactly know with any certainty, just what they actually were. Part of being "cool" was this presumed fearlessness about taking whatever was popular in your social circles. A wonderful and dangerous era; far out crazy times.
NN-DMT is quite a bit different, in terms of the visual experiences one has. They can be overlaid upon the material universe, as surely as one's acid patterns and visuals... but from my own witnessing, they do not originate outside of myself. They are essentially, internally generated. Thus, birthing a complex fabric of pulsating colors and light.
In other words, myriad visions from the inside of one's own mind, flowing outwards upon the field of one's material sight. Or conversely, if directed inwardly, we perceive and literally SEE intricate interiors within interiors (themselves, each spiraling into an infinity).
For myself, the "hallucinations" are wildly fractal and geometric. More like a breakthrough dose of psilocybin mushrooms. You'd recognize much of what you have previously experienced,
hallucinogenically, under the enigmatic spell of LSD, shrooms or mescaline, if you encounter Spice. Just much, much, much more immediate, psychedelic and self-transcending.
And if you've a desire to shift into a reality of shimmering white light, DMT or even more so, the pinnacle of all entheogenic sacraments,
Ayahuasca, will be a great
CLOV teacher. I can't speak directly of Iboga or ketamine, as I have not had their Darshan... but if you are sincere about
The Light, there is a direct pathway and you've come to the right place.
I believe the book you are searching for is titled:
The Psychedelic Experience: A Manual based on The Tibetan Book of The Dead. I don't know of any book by Dr. Timothy called,
The Clear Light of the Void. There are several others he penned, which include the phenomenon of
CLOV, however. What you speak of may be out of print?
The Seven Tongues of God,
Your Brain Is God,
Psychedelic Prayers: And Other Meditations, etc... may or may not be what you are looking for? But no matter how profound, they are just human words in print, after all.
IMHO, this blinding vision, this soul illuminating white light expereince, predates human existence itself. So ultimately, we must find it within ourselves, as we are gifted (and some might rightly argue, that we are more accurately, accursed), by the uniquely human paradigm of self consciousness.
Psychedelics of an entheogenic character, can and do aid in our discovery... but honestly, I have had so many (admittedly, usually but not always, milder in nature) experiences with
CLOV, that I know with an unwavering certainty that it can be intentionally contacted, merged within and so too, wholly integrated. We are able to find this effulgence through a variety of tested and proven approaches. Sacred Medicines are just the most sudden, explosive and self-shattering path.
I am curious which Yogic Master transferred the experience of the
CLOV, within your perceptual field? There were a good many highly illuminated souls alive in that time period. I don't see the same level of wisdom in today's Gurus. Maybe they exist in secrecy and are just waiting for the right time? Still, the Shaktipad of Sages can indeed facilitate such an experience, as can OBE and NDE.
Brother
Hyperspace Fool crafted a wonderful thread exploring these various avenues, which do also include
Sacred Medicines, as well as a number of effective methodologies and practices to explore. It's a good read for those interested in
CLOV or any other powerful, ego-shattering, spiritual experience. AKA, that which the inter-dimensional flight of the curious psychonaut, can surely evoke.
Please do check it out, friend.
