Hi,
I got my lighter, GVG and now I bought a choreboy scrubber and cut it, and burnt it. It is completely burnt but it doesn't produce any fumes anymore. How does it look? Is it usable?

It looks pretty usable to me. Just make sure that when you load up the spice, take your lighter and heat it up from the outside and let the spice melt into the choreboy first. Then let it sit for a minute and cool off. That will decrease the chance of you burning any with the flame and you have to tip it so that it runs towards the flame rather than melting and running down into whatever device you are using. Goodluck! Thumbs up

It’s about twice as thick as it should be and heated more than necessary, but it will work.

I will cut it into half, thanks. I am also worried about the color. Is it too 'burnt'? It was still smoking, that's why I had to go all the way.

Is that copper or stainless? You know you actually shouldnt burn it. Soaking it in acetone is all that is needed. If you heat it too much to clean it then you increase the chances of inhaling oxides. Which is bad.

That's ChoreBoy Copper Scrubber. I don't really have acetone, would Isopropyl Alcohol do?

Exactly how much should it be heated then? Because in my experience, while the color changes immediately, if you keep it under the torch flame some sort of smoke will still come out of it until the whole thing turns to ashes.

I guess what you got there will be ok to use but as gibran2 said its too big.

Now, it is possible to clean it without burning it. I will tell you how I do it my self. What I do is I clean the mesh in acetone and then I burn all the acetone soaked inside the mesh. I just hold the mesh with pliers above sink (safety very important)and set it on fire. Let it burn till the fire goes of and that's it. You can repeat it if you want but not necessary.

If you decide to do it my way I will not take any responsibility if something goes wrong. I am not saying what you should do only telling you how I have done it my self and it always worked out nicely.
