attempted to do the tao of rue extraction i basified the mix with lye then poured s much off as i could after leaving it to sit for 15 hours then mixed hot vinagar and water add salt exactly how it said and let it sit and nothing happened is there possibly not enough vinagar in it. any help would be greatly apperciated thank you very much

Add straight vinegar to bring the ph down while heating/stiring then make sure to add the minimum gram of salt per 10 ml of solution. Using lye as the base will require more vinegar than say using sodium carbonate. So yeah I would add more vinegar and more salt depending on how much total solution you end up with. As Kobranek said, it's very important to heat everything up while adding the vinegar and salt.

You need to add enough vinegar so that (most) everything dissolves. Once everything is dissolved then add the salt. It doesn't hurt to filter the solution again before adding the salt just to get a cleaner product in the end.

After you add the salt, let everything cool off slowly. As it cools, crystals should start appearing.

i warmed upi the mixture and warmed up some vinagar poured some vinagar in the mixture then added some salt i have the mixture in 5 mason jars 3 of them seem to be a redish liquid only with a little bit of that tan stuff at the bottom alot less then before and one of them has quite a bit of that tan stuff at the bottom and the last one the liquid isnt redish its more tanish with the tan stuff at the bottom any ideas what i should do seems to be no cyrstals forming at all yet
