Hey guys, I had my first go at making changa last night.

Dissolved the spice into IPA then put in small tumbler with my leaves, the put in front of fan. I can see some crystals have formed around the outer circumference at the base of the tumbler. As this was my first attempt I only used a very small amount. The total weight of spice and leaves should be 300mg.

Has this happened because the diameter of the base of the tumbler is wider than the pile of leaves? ie. leaves spread out in the middle, but a lot of space around the edges

That's the only reason I can think of. I will weigh it later to see how much was actually infused with the leaves.

Thoughts?

Cheers

Morning,

How much solvent did you use?

I like to use just a little more than will soak into the herb I use. I'm guessing that if there is excessive solvent it could leave some crystals on the glass where it evaps. If there isn't lots of excessive solvent then most of it will soak into to the herb straight away and that is where the DMT will stay. Hopefully.

it's all in your mind, but what's your mind???

As it was such a small amount I couldn't really measure it, I don't have a measuring cup that small but I would estimate between 5-10 ml solvent.

The solvent was about 1/2 cm high in the tumbler.

I will bear that in mind though, thanks.

I use about 15ml per gram of spice, as I've seen this was the generally recommended ratio. It works for me without leaving crystals behind. Might wanna factor that into your scenario. Also, make sure the freebase is completely dissolved before adding your leaf.

To dissolve I just put the spice in the IPA and stirred it. I didn't apply heat.

It appeared to have dissolved, no solid left floating in it. Is heat always necessary?

With naptha, I find that heating it before adding it over the DMT helps a lot dissolving the stuff. With acetone (my favorite solvent for such things) heating not necessary at all, I think it's because acetone it's more volatile than naptha; not sure how IPA works, never tried it. Also, I'm not sure about the quantities of IPA needed, maybe someone else can shed some light over that.

Simple solution:

1. Pour the (partially) infused leaves in a flat dish
2. Add a dash of IPA/Acetone to the container where you have the crystals
3. Stir, shake, whatever to redissolve crystals
4. Pick up solvent with glass dropper
5. Drop the solvent slowly on the leaves
6. Allow to dry
