I recently tried a A/B extraction on what I thought was reed canary grass but later found out that it was not reed canary grass. I still haven't Identified the plant or the alkali present in the plant. When smoked the alkali of this plant has a intense euphoric stimulant effect that is similar to MDMA. Any input would be appreciated I will post pictures of the plant if asked.

Consider yourself asked. Can you post pics of the plant? (pretty please?) Thanks If your religion, faith, devotion, or self proclaimed spirituality is not directly leading to an increase in kindness, empathy, compassion and tolerance for others then you have been misled.

Why would you smoke random unidentified substances? Seems kinda stupid, it could be anything, I'm glad it seems to have turned out OK but you should really keep yourself safe. INHALE, SURVIVE, ADAPT it's all in your mind, but what's your mind??? fool of the year

If you post it like that it will be lost once imageshack drops it. You can upload it directly to the nexus. If it's an iphone picture just make sure to convert it to another format with an outside application before upload and your as good as private. BTW Yes it does look like an ornamental grass. There are so many varieties of these grasses that I'm wouldn't surprised if there were several psychoactive grasses as of yet on noticed. What size dose did you take? How did you extract it? Which NP solvent did you use and what acid? This is potentially very fascinating. peace If your religion, faith, devotion, or self proclaimed spirituality is not directly leading to an increase in kindness, empathy, compassion and tolerance for others then you have been misled.

I think it looks like pennisetum or carex species. It would be good if you posted some flowers for better identification. It looks like carex pendula though.

One important thing to think about: from the 15 plants I tested for DMT, of which 7 where grasses and one looked a lot like that one in your picture, NONE had testable traces of DMT in it! So please, don't ingest or smoke any extraction from grasses before you know the exact content. We simply don't know yet what the wide array of grasses contain and some of it might be toxic. So please be safe and don't ingest/smoke anything yet. Kind regards, The Traveler

Carex brevicollis contains some weird looking beta-carbolines. Phenological changes in the concentration of alkaloids of Carex brevicollis in an Alpine rangeland. Brevicarine - harmane with a long sidechain with a nitrogen atom. It's a teratogen. Brevicolline - harmane with n-methylpyrrolidine. I've also found some old nexus thread with carex brevicollis https://www.dmt-nexus.me/forum/d....aspx?g=posts&t=5315And there's a link to shaman-australis http://www.shaman-australis.com...hp?showtopic=2718&hlQuote:WARNING;THESE PLANTS MAY CONTAIN MAO INHIBITORS,YOU SHOULD KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS.............................................this has been a pet subject of mine for a while. 'pharmacotheon' mentions the smoking of the roots of an ipomoea sp in india. trout and ott mention the use of carex brevicollis as an ayahuasca admixture. trout further states the roots are active when smoked. hbwr roots have some activity when smoked. carex are in the cyperus family and i find the carex plants look very similar to the common house plant cyperus alternifolia[?]. my extreem sensitivity to lsa's responded to the cyperus roots. further research indicated 12 inches of the long thin root to be more active than one hbwr seed when smoked. the carex sp in sth am are called piri piri and the root nodes are usually used[as a tea?]. the cyperus is known as dwarf umbrella grass and sometimes as spider grass,it is very easily propagated.

Thank you all for your input I don't have any pictures of the flowers because it recently stop blooming but I know they were a sort of blueish purple color if that helps. Does anyone know of a way of possibly identifying the alkali in the plant.

I think in adittion to beta carbolines(harmine type) it also contains HBWR alkaloids. HBWR alkaloids are very sensitive to heat and they are destroy when smoked. Probably MAO inhibition and that small percent of alkaloids which get to your lungs is the cause for MDMA-like effect. If you ingested it rather than smoked the alkaloids could be many times more active. Considering the vasoconstriction from those ergolines, it even could cause gangrene or death. Those two "breivic type" alkaloids are of unknown potency, and type of action.

what I have noticed is that it is only active in freebase form i tried it in salt form and had no effects and also it is not orally active even in high doses also, I have not noticed any negative health effects from this substance so far.

Maybe it's getting broke by MAO quickly like DMT. The salt has probably too high boiling point to be smoked. Or something .

Sorry to keep banging the drum but this means absolutely nothing, you can smoke fags for years with no noticeable health effects, and then you get lung cancer. Were you smoking the salts? I'm not sure this is a good idea either, I think Endlessness was advising against it due to nasty byproducts being produced. I think so too. This is defiantly a noteworthy substance I will conduct further research on it. The thing that interests me the most about it is that even though it is a very euphoric it is not psychologically or psychically addictive.

"reed canary grass"? People need to stop calling it that..that grass in the pic could be phalaris arundiancea or it could be any number of other phalaris grasses. How can you be sure it is not arundinacea without seeing the flowers? Sounds like it could be hordenine..which is not a new drug at all..and found in a bunch of grasses along with a whole soup of other alkaloids. Long live the unwoke.

Speaking of plants containing a combination of unrelated alkaloids and compounds, you guys ever heard of acacia berlandieri? Acacia berlandieri contains: N-Methylphenethylamine Tyramine Amphetamine Methamphetamine Dimethylamphetamine Hydroxyamfetamine para-Methoxyamphetamine DMT Nicotine Mescaline I thought it was truly bizarre that this plant contained so many amphetamines. βThe most compelling insight of that day was that this awesome recall had been brought about by a fraction of a gram of a white solid, but that in no way whatsoever could it be argued that these memories had been contained within the white solid. Everything I had recognized came from the depths of my memory and my psyche. I understood that our entire universe is contained in the mind and the spirit. We may choose not to find access to it, we may even deny its existence, but it is indeed there inside us, and there are chemicals that can catalyze its availability.β

Unless you have access to proper tools and knowledge, maybe conducting further research (with yourself as the guinea pig) isn't a good idea. If mdma effect is what you're after, just get yourself some of the real deal.
