When I take a psychedelic when I am sick or injured, I always come back from the trip feeling much better. Is it just me or do psychedelics have a sort of healing power to them?

I have a theory behind it. When you take psychedelics, they help break down your walls. Your senses are amplified because your mind has shed the natural barrier that protects you from intense, unnecessary stimuli in your everyday life.

But does it go further than that? When you are healing, whether from sickness or injury, your body expends a certain amount of energy. Your mind regulates how much energy you are using so that you don't spend it all and leave yourself completely vulnerable.

What happens when you introduce psychedelics into the equation? I believe that without the walls that are normally in place, your mind loses the ability to regulate energy consumption, hence the reason you can dance for 12 hours straight when you are high on acid. It loses the ability to say, "Hey man, here are your limits and you are pushing them."

This plays off into your healing systems as well. When your entire being is running at full throttle, the walls aren't there to tell your brain that it is putting too much energy into curing your ailment or mending your bones. This expedites the healing process. The end result is that you come out of the trip feeling much better, although with a ravenous hunger.

Like I said, this is all theory. I'm not a physician, doctor, or biologist, only a light-hearted, bright-souled acid tripper who has noticed a pattern in the psychedelic trips that myself & others around me have taken. And isn't life all patterns?

What are your thoughts? I would love to see any kind of research that proves or disproves this theory.

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

I think this is a very plausable theory. I just had my first experience w DMT about 4 hours ago. I definitely took a large enough hit, esp. the 2nd one, Naturally unable to take a third. A mimosa hostilis extraction done beautifully- first try Smile Thought the product would be a smaller quantity though.. Wow. ANYWHO, I had the exact same thought as I came out of it enough to have thoughts- my lungs through a bit of a tantrum and I had what would've been the onset of an asthma attack when I was younger- and even now would've taken much longer to work through- and I consciously healed my lungs & knew exactly how to breath to do so.
Plus about 9 years ago, {the summer after high sch. grad.} I took lsd with both a fever and half of my body sunburned. It was great, I held a banana to my face ( the burned side ), spun in circles for hours chasing my sunburn i suppose, and tried to describe the beauty in geometry I saw.. (ie the point in space, the infinite origin point is 'God', the dew drop and meniscus, how everything is created from the origin, plotted on our graph)heh. and I must say I was awesome the next day.
As for today, Magical. I thought I'd get some meaning of life answer, and what I found was observance of beauty & the realization that I already know the answer. When I could walk again something told me to walk down to our creek and put my hands in. The 'woods' was a breathing being I was a part of, I could see what I did all at once- past, present, future- Like a animation with frames you could see all at once. Kinda didn't describe this correctly.. Then something like a spirit or a feeling made me think of native americans, how out of touch with harmony in nature society is, and how I could help if any kind of economic breakdown or disaster does happen... soon.. then I looked down and there was a quartz arrowhead at my feet, not covered, barely dirty.. and I've explored this land for 16 years.

I know that natives in Columbia have been using ayahuasca for centuries now for healing purposes. I don't think it heals much physically as it does emotionally but I was watching a documentary on hallucinogenics and people would go to this healing group in some southern country and they would all be damaged emotionally or physically and what not. After the experienced the ayahuasca they all explained how healed and happy they were.

I do think taking curtain psychedelics will heal you for sure!

Very interesting theory. Healing injuries takes time but the process can be sped up a bit. For example, football players get all bruised up and make micro tears in their muscle tissue during exertion. They jump into ice baths and get massage therapy to heal faster so they are ready for the next week. Not sure if psychedelics could also speed up the process. They could alleviate the mental stress of injuries tho....which would make the person "feel" as if he/she is recovering faster or even "feel better".

Psychedelics can heal certain things, mostly emotional IMO. One thing I'd like to say is don't trip if you have poison oak/ivy/sumac... I had a pretty bad reaction to poison oak about a month ago and was at a music festival. I was fine the first couple days, not tripping. It sucked having poison oak pretty bad while at a festival, but it was way worse on the night I took acid. Idk if it was my perception or if my rash was at it's worse that night, but I was just really uncomfortable and could feel the poisons moving thru my stomach. I could have had much much more fun if I hadn't had poison oak, but that's besides the point. I'd highly reconmend not tripping with poison oak, but maybe someone has done it before with no problems. We're all different
[center]Sophia's Light

In darkest night, when lights are dim, and all in sight seems sad and grim,
I find you there, your arms surround me, your spirit fills me and it grounds me.
I look to you, Lady of Truth, most ancient One, yet eternal youth,to keep me safe, protect my heart, and with the wisdom you impart, fill up my empty mind and soul,so that, my Lover, you can make whole, all that was broken in this day –and that is what I ask and pray.
