Hello all.
I had hoped to post in a different section, but being a new member I will pose my question here.
To preface, while it may seem odd, the reason I decided to post to the Nexus is because I respect the opinion of this community and believe dreams to be a sort of 'trip' induced by the release of DMT in the brain during sleep.

For the past week, I have had incredibly odd dreams. Not so much in imagery as in just mentally upsetting without having a direct cause. The dreams have progressed, though, to become more violent. The second to last one I remember vividly. In it, I am watching a movie on a cell phone and then realize I am actually living the movie. In it, I become a vampire of the opposite sex I am in this reality and fight with zombies. Brutal, gory fights where I rip open veins and tear off heads. The scene would switch to a pleasant lake where I took a swim in the body I have in the waking reality. Then I return to the vampire form and am in the movie again. Upon waking, I feel almost dirty, a lingering feeling that is difficult to describe. Again, this morning I have a dream where I am not in my own body, but that of a monster, and am viciously attacking another creature. Upon waking I realize that my heart has gone into tachycardia, of which I have a bad history of.

Which brings me to my ultimate point: I am getting sick, with very odd symptoms and I am convinced, as crazy as I'm sure it sounds, that I am sick because of my dreams. I don't sleep well, my dreams disturb me, and when I awake it's almost as if I haven't left the dream realm. I often wonder if I've died and haven't realized it yet.

Again, this surely sounds what modern society calls insane, but I have faith someone here may have an answer or opinion as to what I can do to alleviate myself from these dreams and improve my health in the waking world.

Thank you all.

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

These types of things can manifest those types of dreams and just fear in general into your daily life.....You have to watch out what you put into your mind and subconsious - it can create some bizarre scenarios.

I agree with mescaline-man whole heartily.

Maybe it's time to unplug or at least reverse the polarity of your plug, so to say?
How much time of your day do you spend on your cell phone, on the PC, and/or watching TV?
How much time each day do you spend meditating or relaxing in nature?

Not that the answer lies in just the answers to these questions, but it's something to think about.

Yeah my dreams tend to pull influence from surroundings, and whats on my mind; but i still have some very bizzare dreams out of the blue.

You can always try looking into a DREAM BOOK! i do not know of a good one to try.
But some Dreams have been known to hold special interest, and through out history dreams have been interpreted. Even in the bible some dreams were said to hold secrets.

I use to have so many disturbing dreams, that physically drained me when i'd wake up. My dreams are still very vivid and have increased over time(since i quit weed)
I only even dream positive these days, I read a book on the technique of destroying the 'mechanical' ego and replacing it with a warrior mindset. I'm now down for anything in my dreams.

When I get into lucid dreams, I sometimes go hunting anything scary or negative I can find but I can never find anything Crying or very sad If I ever did have a run in with something I could simply laugh in their face and maybe kick their ass.

I believe your ego makes you have these dreams, so deffiently consider reprogramming your ego over time. Worked for me Big grin
The Warrior’s Prayer
"I am what I am. In having faith in the beauty within me I develop trust. In softness I have strength. In silence I walk with the gods. In peace I understand myself and the world. In conflict I walk away. In detachment I am free. In respecting all living things I respect myself. In dedication I honour the courage within me.
In eternity I have compassion for the nature of all things. In love I unconditionally accept the evolution of others. In freedom I have power.
In my individuality I express the God-Force within me. In service I give of what I have become.
I am what I am: Eternal, immortal, universal, and infinite. And so be it"

Hi,

Not sure if this would be related but it happened to me recently so I want to ask if you were exposed to any nasty chemicals lately. In my case, I've been doing some construction work and been dealing with paints, thinners, glues and more than one type of cements and mixes and this really messes with my head and spirals into crappy dreams and I feel that I'm working hard to eliminate those chemicals from my body.

Otherwise, more obvious questions would come to mind such as - are you experiencing any unusual stressful events in your life (something new, e.g. death of someone close) or do you have some background thing which you really don't like, but been handling for a long while (e.g. a job you don't like and it piled up too much). ?

At the end of the day, regardless what happens in your dreams, what matters is how you feel during and after. So if you say that you don't like how you feel about them try to investigate there, about what are these feelings similar with, or make you think about etc.

Hope this helps,

Ethan

Thank you all for your comments, and sorry to reply late...busy life...!

Anyway, in response:

I have no recourse in my personal life to anyone who may be of help, either friend or counselor. I've been through many counselors before for being a troublesome teenager but have found no great help from them and, just from personal experience, have developed a bit of a negative attitude towards the profession.

I've not watched violent TV/movies/games, and generally do not spend much time with technology, excluding my phone.
Though, that's not to say I spend much time in nature either. Most of time has been spent studying schoolwork in the library.

I haven't had any new meds or outside chemical exposure (at least to my knowledge, who knows these days...!).

And I cannot describe how nice it would be to have an evening with lady ganja, but due to heart issues and her effect on me it is rather out of the question. Sad

As an update, I have found significant relief in meditation and prayer (though I am not a religious person). There are many difficulties in my life right now and I'm sure that, especially from your comments on how internal thoughts may affect dreams, the main source of my problems now lie in my reluctance to deal with my problems. I still feel, however, that something more was going on at the time, but hopefully I am rid of that ugliest of feelings for at least the time being.

Thank you all for your help, I will update if any more strange dreams occur~~
