First off, apologies because this really belongs in the salvia subforum, but I cannot post there yet, so I figured I'd ask in here.
I recently received half a gram of salvia divinorum 30x extract, and the vial said 1/10th of a gram could be used sublingually. Does anyone have any experience with this?
So far, I only have a good dozen or so experiences with the plant, namely with plain dried leaf and some 5x extract. I haven't had any real breakthrough dosages but I feel like I have gotten a good grip on what the experience leans toward. If it's at all possible, I'd prefer taking a sublingual dose of the extract rather than taking such a huge step up in intensity by smoking it. Also, the supplier of the extract is well-trusted, so I don't doubt the potency at all.
After searching around for a while though, I found that most of the people seem to think that taking extract sublingually doensn't work at all.

Anyone with experience(s) to share?

Much appreciated Smile

You could experiment with it yourself and share your results with the community. Once you start testing this route I'm sure others will follow and we'll get a definitive answer on this manner.

If regular dry leaf can be rehydrated and used as a quid, I don't see why leaf extract wouldn't work sublingually.

But their recommended dosing sounds too high if that's really 30x. 1mg salvinorin should be barely 15mg of 30x, so I would try some 20mg first at most sublingually, brushing and rinsing with mouthwash before. Do it and report Smile

I used to take x10 extract 2-3 times a week sub-lingual, around 80-100mg. It's quite subtle in effect, and low level effects seem to persist all day. Last autumn a girlfriend and I used to partake in it like that, but we'd also soon after proceed to polish off a bottle of Chivas Regal whisky , so effects got a little muddled up.

Smoking is the way to go, start real low, slowly working up to a dose your comfortable with. The nice afterglow from smoking seems better than anything the sub-lingual route offers.

Funny I should come across this thread. The first time I took any drug of any kind (including alcohol) was a half dozen or so attempts at sublingual Salvia. At the time I didn't relish the idea of smoking anything, and I thought the promised "longer lasting effects would be better suited for spiritual exploration.

It's been a while, and I don't remember the doses, but I believe my extract was 10X. In short, I never did get it to work enough to be considered an "experience" of any kind. The most I got from it was a general sense of things feeling somewhat different, kind of like when you first realize a psychedelic has started "working". I also had it put me into a half hour long, uncontrollable fit of laughter at a campfire once. I never could, however, get into any kind of hallucination or trip from it sublingually. I started to think that the whole Salvia thing was bogus... then I tried smoking it. Let's just say that (as with DMT) words aren't sufficient tools for the description of what that substance can show your consciousness.

I'm not sure what you're hoping to get from Salvia, but I would recommend that you skip the sublingual dosing, unless it's the quid method as used traditionally. If you are looking for a sort of "breakthrough" experience, that 30X will be plenty potent. I'd say half a bowl hit with a torch lighter (Salvia vapes at much higher temps than most herbs) and held for at least 20 seconds should make consensus reality disappear. Perhaps I'm getting ahead of myself or answering questions that weren't asked, but either way my opinion is that sublingual Salvia is a very tough thing to master. Good luck.
