Okay, hopefully someone can shed some light on this topic for me and possibly some others that have this seemingly awesome product available to them. I originally bought this activated carbon for filtration purposes in brews. Marineland Black Diamond Activated Carbon is what I have.
I am curious if, in a pinch, I could pulverize this material into powder and add to water and drink to remove toxins. I'm wanting to have something handy for a potential alcohol poisoning remedy to buy time to get to the hospital from way up in the mountains in the middle of BFE. As well, if this is something I could ingest, I would like to as well use this to purify my digestive fluids with an irregular cleansing regimen. Apparently, carbon is able to keep your body dying as soon as you would have without it.

Anyone ever do this sort of thing? I believe it can be very healthy considering how well it adsorbs toxins (yes I mean aDsorbs!)

Also, has anyone ever made a spoof (usually a toilet paper roll stuffed with dryer sheets to allow kids to smoke in their parents bathrooms, lmao!) but with activated carbon as the purifier. It seems with its properties, this could be much more effective. Mind you, I live on my own (with roommates), I'd just like to come up with something really good for my friends who live in apartments and are very paranoid about the smell of their herbal essences.

So, aquarium grade activated carbon, safe to ingest? good for hiding smells? I believe so, but I am not sure enough to do these things to my own body until further clarification.

Nom nom. Activating carbon mmm Razz

Of course, it probably wont just absorb bodily impurities. Probably lots of other things too.

Yes! Thank you for the affirmations Smile I do understand that these forms of matter do not differentiate between good or bad as we do, so do not coordinate their molecular bindings to these values. They act according to their physical properties.
Anybody else reading this should note that a healthy diet, full of nutrition and proper protein, should probably be a necessity around the days one partakes in such a deep cleansing as activated carbon and especially for ayahuasca! In general, one should be in stable health, I believe, in order to not further stress their body into a dis-ease. Activated carbon, while it seems great as a pre-filter to the kidneys and liver, it can put strain on these organs as well.

So how do you all personally use this material? For what purposes and at what dosage? If you haven't used yet, what would you want out of activated carbon?

I plan on trying this out on thursday afternoon once I get home from work. I will not have eaten since noon or 1 and it will be 4 by then. I'm thinking 40g in a 1/2L of water. Followed by a dinner at 8 or 9 of salad greens, maybe some dandelion root tea, probably some chicken with a bit of baby portabellas. Then, depending on how I feel and things work out, I'll work 25g doses 2 or 3 times a day for this weekend at my camping trip! Smile

You can usually buy activated charcoal at a pharmacy for human consumption. I'm not sure using it for the purpose of cleansing everyday toxins is really wise. Our bodies are pretty amazing at doing this already.
