dear cactus appreciator,
if youre going to use xylene, i highly recommend you salt with hcl as it produces a much more cleanable/storable/measureable product.
if youre wondering how to do this, the salt ratio is as follows
25 ml of 30-33% hcl solution + 50 ml of water =75 ml 10% hcl solution
all 75ml of your 10% hcl solution + 375 ml water = 450 ml 1.5% hcl solution
be sure to swirl/mix this solution before salting
salt 4 times with 112.5 ml, each time shaking for a few minutes and letting sit for about 15 minutes
collect all salts and evporate on pie pan, the excess hcl will mostly evaporate off (benefit of hcl vs acetate)
scrape up your product and put in a glass beaker
its not quite pure but its close, to clean make MgSO4 by microwaving some epsom salts till they are white and hard through and through, break it up and put it in your fresh acetone, shake the acetone effectively drying it.
let acetone settle to avoid MgSO4 contaminants and
pippette your dry acetone and cover your mescaline salts with about an inch of acetone, mix mescaline into it, let settle pippette off acetone, repeat until acetone is clear, evaporate all your discarded acetone and repeat the initial cleaning step once to retrieve all lost mescaline.
dry your mescaline on pie pan its voila beautiful hcl xtals, they can be recrstalized through water or mek (more info when you get there)

heres my preffered method of fresh cactus extractions, slice up your cactus thinly and dice it, it should tiny little chunks. freeze these, once frozen solid put into pot and simmer for 2 hours with a twist of lemon, 2 liters per foot should be enough. pour tea off into jug, add another 2 liters of water per foot with another twist of lemon, do another 2 hour simmer. let the tea cool, once cool, strain your cacti pulp one handful at a time through a shirt by wringing it out, compost the exhausted cactus flesh. combine both teas and reduce to 1 liter. let this settle for a few hours/ over night (in fridge for best results) decant/ pour off away from the sediment and reduce down to 350 ml, let settle again, decant once more away from the sediment. i typically alow a few days to go by once this last reduction has taken place and alot of gunk precipitates out that wasnt there originally, its whitish and thick. so maybe let your reduced tea sit even longer than a few hours...
bassify this tea and pull with 200 ml nps (xylene or orange oil) repeat 5 times
salt your liter as prescribed above
congratz you haz mescaline bruh
