So SWIMs pet monkey Oscar just did their second DMt extraction, both times 1 lb of mimosa and whatchas stb tek was used whatchas stb tek. The first time Oscars spice was glorious. Only got about a gram and a half but it was the whitest powder SWIM had ever seen around besides synthetic plus the potency and smoothness was like nothing SWIM had ever seen. Oscar couldn't remember exactly how many doses there were but SWIM thinks its was around 125 on account of 90% of it being given away (the other 10% was either experimented with or carelessly wasted Crying or very sad ).

Now on this batch everything was done the same except the Oscar precipitated the crystals he received 5 grams of very orangish reddish and very harsh powder. The worst part was when the crystals got warm at all and SWIMs talking out of the freezer warm they turned to an oily goop.

Multiple questions here. What happened to Oscars spice. What can Oscar do to clean it up and make it prettier Big grin . Plus Oscars curious if iso could be used as the solvent for recrystallization and if it would still pull out any impurities.

Any help is greatly appreciated any will be immediately relayed to SWIM and Oscar.
Thanks

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

I had a similiar experience once. I took it out of the freezer to dry, drained the naptha, and within a matter of minutes what i thought were crystals slowly became like a liquid. My suspicion was that it was possibly some of the base mixture getting into the mix, as well as possible particulates of the powered mimosa mixture. I got that result not on the initial pull but maybe like the second or third. From memory I think I just gave up on that batch and started another. If it was your first pull I'd say to recombine everything, shake it up, add more naptha, and make sure that your naptha is clear before you seperate it. And make absolutely sure that no nastiness from the base is pulled up into the mixture. If you can see particles floating around in your naptha after you have pulled it, that is not a good sign as it should be pretty clear. I personally suggest a dry tek, It appears to be much much easier and just as fast if not faster than an acid-base or even STB tek. But that is my personal opinion. Plus I got much purer product using the dry tek. All around safer chemicals Very happy

It sounds like you pulled out some honey spice/jungle spice. I think high heat and too much base contribute to this. You could probaly clean it up by dissolving it in an acidic solution like vinegar and water. This will turn the dmt into a salt and it will no longer be soluble in your naptha. Defat with naptha (pull with naptha, but discard the naptha), then rebasify using sodium carbonate or your base of choice (turns dmt into freebase) and pull with naptha 3x then evap or freeze precip. Or both.

I think this should work, but I am sure someone else might be able clarify this for both of us.

Melting/dissapearing crystals after freeze precipitation / Whats the best way to retrieve crystals after freezing?

This usually happens because of remaining solvent residues warming up and redissolving the crystals.

A trick to work around that is to freeze precipitate for a day or so (if you already have the melted crystals, then redissolve them in small amounts of warm naphtha and back into the freezer), and after crystals have precipitated, take it out of the freezer, pour the naphtha off (through coffee filter just in case any crystals are not stuck to the container), close the container and put it upside down in the freezer for some more hours. This way, any remaining naphtha trapped inside the crystals will drop off to the lid of the container on the bottom.

So after those few hours, take out out of the freezer, opening the lid still upside down so the naphtha drops off, and then you can scrape the drier crystals, put them on top of a coffee filter or on a plate/petri dish to finish air drying, and voilá.

The container used for precipitation is ideally something with a lid that closes well, like a mason jar, and that the edges and walls are straight so you can scrape it off more easily. Scrape as much as you can of the dmt, and whatever is left inside, leave it and reuse the container for the next precipitation, or if its the last precipitation of the extraction, you can use some alcohol (or even naphtha, if its clean evapping naphtha) to pick the last bits up and evaporate in a dish or easy to scrape flat-bottom wide container.
