Hey everyone...

After having read through most of the extractions, SWIM would just like to make sure that they have it all in order in their head before SWIM even attempts to start doing this...
SWIM has managed to source the main components.
Not sure how much end product SWIM will actually get though?

Materials:

MHRB - 250g (should have around 1g from this?)

Lye - 250g (purchased 1kg for future extractions)

Water - 3 litres

HDPE 1l & 5l containers - mixing and storing (may substitute for glass if that would produce cleaner results)

Ronsonol (250ml) - Cannot get hold of Naptha in the UK as in the USA... Have been told not to use white spirit and was recommended to use this instead.

Sodium Carbonate - for washing.

Extraction:

1. Break up MHRB as best as possible, mix with LYE and WATER - stir thoroughly in 5l HDPE
2. Leave for 1-2 hours
3. Add RONSONOL - roll/mix and leave until separated
4. Separate top layer from bottom layer, move to 1l HDPE container
5. Repeat 3. & 4. - to extract as much as possible (adjust soak times), move to 1l container
6. Mix SODIUM CARBONATE with WATER and add a small amount to 1l container
7. Separate once settled to a different 1l container
(Don't think I need to do anything more at this point)
8. Freeze precipitate 1l container
9. Scrape out DMT, remove residue to be re-used.
10. Enjoy?

I hope that's everything covered. SWIM will most likely re-x to be safe(r).

Anyone have any pointers or tips? (Pretty much Lazyman's tek..!) Just wanting to be sure

Any words of advice or all looking in order?

You should powder the MHRB. Mix your water and lye before adding the MHRB. When you add Lye to water, it will heat up so best put it in a COLD bath to cool it down. Then shake it around and it will heat up again. Just put it in the cold bath again. It's recommended to proceed when shaking the mix doesn't produce any more heat.

I used Ronsonol for my extraction and it was fine.

When pulling, use a HOT bath. Heat helps the extraction. Also, after you add the solvent, some people recommend not shaking the mix too much. Just turn it around a few times, then leave in the hot bath for around 20-25 mins.

After washing with Sodium carbonate, I also did a wash with microwaved Epsom Salts. This removes any moisture left in the collection tub.

I'm not sure about freeze precipitating in a 1L container. That might be very difficult to scrap out the spice. Best thing really is to use a big glass baking tray, or even a number of desert bowls. Jars make it difficult also to remove the spice.

1% is a conservative estimate. Hopefully you'll get more.

You have a fair bit of bark there...
I would do a 50g batch first...(if done right you should get 1/2-1g out of that. If you mess up on a big batch...you will cry!
I wouldn't bother with the carb wash...but its up to you.

Borrow a blender (or charity shop) and powder that bark right down (fibers are ok)

50g Bark + 25g lye + 700ml (de-ionised) water + 25g (dissolved)salt-(secret ingredient)
Use 40ml Nap for your pulls.
It will all fit in a litre bottle.
Take your pull and put in dish/jar cover and freeze
Same with each pull

If it goes well...just keep doing 50g batches
You have plenty of supplies...you just need time and patience now..

Oh - I think I may have calculated wrongly then. I will start on 50g and go from there. Why not the carb wash? If you don't mind me asking?

Is there anyway to de-ionise tap water or have to purchase? I did see the post about the salt! Amazing stuff that. Hopefully increase the yield.

I might scale down the lye purchase too considering.

You must use D-ionised..tap water is contaminated.
£1.44 for 2.5litres from Asda or £0.75 per l from Wilkinsons..also for Lye (Caustic Soda granules)

A really low key and low cost kit could be:

Glass bottle (1 litre) or 1 litre Mason Jar (Mix Jar) with lid
Plastic funnel (transferring liquids to bottle)
2x empty jam jars (keeping/transferring Naphtha)
Turkey Baster (pulling)
Glass Measuring Jug (mixing water and lye)
Glass roasting dish (cheap in supermarkets for freeze precipitating and scraping)
Tin foil and Food wrap (covers)
Gram Scale or kitchen scale (measuring lye/bark)

extras:
Blender (chopping up/powdering Bark)
Fan (drying and evapping)

Thats it really
I got my kit together for very little money....mostly from charity shops

PS.Its not as difficult as it seems...it will get easier..

Quick update:

I have gotten everything together and have just finished blending my bark. It is not the best grinder/blender but its half powder/half stringy fibres.

I will update with pics/yeild, hopefully, tomorrow!

Edit: Okay so, 700ml water with 25g salt dissolved, mixed with 40g (said 25, tek told me 50) and 50g mhrb. Looks very dark at the moment with an almost orangey tint to the liquid. Half way through the hour of brewing.

The lye makes is very dark/black..40g is fine...

Yeah, I was surprised how dark it went! Just finished pulling the naptha, did 3 pulls. Now in the freezer. Will see what happens in the morning. Thinking about seeing how I feel Friday or Saturday night and maybe trying a small amount then. Would you say 10/15mg was an 'okay' dose?

20mg is a good starter...if you vape is right.
30mg vaped correctly should get you there...
Be ready for the initial body rush...kind of takes you by surprise...but just relax/don't panic and watch..
