*Karl Jansen M.D.,PHD*
Ketamine: Dreams and Realities
This book is as good a read as 'The spirit molecule', it also has recomends from Rick strassman.
It covers areas from Dreams to Realities and all in-between, and is very easy to read actually hard to put down.
It tells of Ketamine's very low toxicity, of its phenomenal effects on consciousness, its amazing therapeutic action on the mind, all the mysteries they know of how it works, The 'History' behind this molecule - being it is one of/if not the most thoroughly researched chemical in medical science to Date.
Thumbs up
:OH and it has many first hand accounts from travellers of the mind Smile

Also i love most stories from
Algernon Blackwood:
He is a Supernatural writer from the 1850's.
H.P.Lovercraft was the next best thing after BLACKWOOD.
Blackwood spent his life travelling the worlds wilderness, through forests and uninhabited areas.

A great collection to start is Algernon Blackwoods, 'Best Ghost Stories'
He writes short stories, full of all things supernatural, not really "ghost" stories, But every story has a deep sense of unnatural haunting; which the Old World' was FULL OF.

Before Psychedelic things were simply SUPERNATURAL.

He literally could paint a reality an instant with words .amazing writer.

I concur with sidefx about "Ketamine: Dreams and Realities", one of my favourites in my psychedelic book collection (I have a decent collection). "Tryptamine Palace" by James Oroc is also a fantastic read, all about 5-meo-DMT and it covers a broad range of topics in regards to the molecule, from the Akashic field and spirituality, right through to Burning Man and also some Quantum Physics thrown in for good measure, a very captivating read.

The most recent read that I found wonderful was a book by an Australian author Rak Razam called "Aya" about his adventures to Iquitos and the ayahuasca tourism conundrum. A mix of investigative reporting, psychonautic journeying and Hunter S. Thompson style Gonzo journalism, I found it a fantastic read and a very riveting story.

I don't think I need to mention Terence McKenna, that's an obvious choice for true psychedelic storytelling and check out some John C. Lilly too, he was a lovable oddball and scientist turned deep psychonautic adventurer with some interesting out there views on reality... Enjoy!

I will have to check out some of those mushroom books Lewinii, What would you reccomend as a good starting point?

My favorite phsycadelic books, starting with the most recent and i think my favorite so far,

Wizard of the Upper Amazon by F. Bruce Lamb, is the story of Manuel Cordova-Rios. This book is pretty awesome and alot of fun to read. It is the true story of a young rubber cutter working in the amazon jungle. He is captured by a tribe of indians and brought deep into the jungle, where the cheif of the tirbe begins to train him with ayahuasca to be the next leader of the tribe.

True Hallucinations by T. Mckenna, so far the only Mckenna book ive read. Again a very fun book to read, it was a phsycadelic jungle adventure! I think that if somebody really did it right this could make a pretty cool movie.

Island by Aldous Huxley, one of my favorite books, its the counter-argument to Brave New World. Its about a utopian society living in isolation on the island of Pala. Instead of using mind numbing drugs to mask their emotions as they do in Brave New World, they use mushrooms that they call "Moksha Medicine" to facilitate mystical experiences. This is the book that really inspired me to create an intentional community someday.

Ishmeal by Daniel Quinn, its not about phsycadelics spefically, but its talkin about what they teach. Its about everything thats wrong with the world and what we can do to fix it, from a gorillas point of view.
