WE SURE DO LOVE DMT, but what about our beloved mescaline cacti?
its occurred to me that there are 3 different dmt categories (*s) and 13 subforums (-'s) for dmt, thats alot of organization for just one compound!
this is what we have for dmt...
*GENERAL DMT -Information/General Discussions -Quality experience reports -DMT Experiences
* PREPARATIONS AND METHODS OF ADMINISTRATION -Changa -Smoking -Ayahuasca -Pharmahuasca -Other
*DMT EXTRACTION -A/B -STB -Fumaric Acid and Salt-precipitation -Advanced/Enhanced chemistry -DMT Allies extraction
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
and then we come to mescaline/cactus weve got this
*Other Entheogens -cactus
this is a little restricted and often results in posts in the dmt sections like "enhanced/ advanced chemistry" and "fumaric acid and salt-precipitation" because of these misplaced posts, while trying to be solved in its related chemical approach section, they are often overlooked or unaddressed by the rest of the cactus community.
i suggest we do the following: we move cacti out of the other entheogens subforum and into a category of its own with subsequent forums to look like this
*CACTI
*general cacti -cultivation/botanical information ( everything about living trichs n lophs) -quality experience reports (for truly awesome yarns) -cacti/mescaline experiences (your day to day update on nexian experiences)
* preparations/extractions -teas /resins (brews n booze) -a/b / drytek (typical salting extractions) -other (alternate techniques)
*mescaline and allies -bioanalysis (all your serious science analysis plus extraction logs of cacti to document potency) -recrystalization/cleaning/ alkaloid separation (alkaloids and what to do with them)
i think that this just about covers it, and offers a room for expansion within our cacti section. ive often joked about this site being more the cactus nexus for me than dmt, now it has the opportunity to really grow
your thoughts?
and of course id be glad to help reorganize all those lost genuine cacti threads
Sounds awesome Mew. Let us declare nature to be legitimate. All plants should be declared legal, and all animals for that matter. The notion of illegal plants and animals is obnoxious and ridiculous. — Terence McKenna
All my posts are hypothetical and for educational/entertainment purposes, and are not an endorsement of said activities. SWIM (a fictional character based on other people) either obtained a license for said activity, did said activity where it is legal to do so, or as in most cases the activity is completely fictional.
This is a good idea... What if in addition to this, why not give all of the "other entheogens" all of these subforums? I mean, I know I can't actually help with making it a reality, but at LEAST extraction/cultivation/general subsections for all of the beloved plants (and compounds) would I think make the discussions a bit easier to sort through. As of now everything but DMT has to be sifted through pages of miscellaneous threads... I think cactus would be a great place to start this! بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
This is the DMT-Nexus; not the mescaline- or the cactus-Nexus. It only follows logically that there's more info and expansion on the dmt topic and less on other entheogens. What if the next person comes and asks detailed subfora about mushrooms? or iboga? Hell, even harmalas, that come as second to dmt in extraction/discussion popularity do not have their own expanded subora. Need to calculate between salts and freebases? Click here! I rarely look at forum categories as I search for what I'm looking for or for new posts. But on the other hand this site is one of the best ones out there on the topic of mescaline-bearing cacti, so perhaps some categorisation in order. Generally I favour fewer rather than more subforums, and mew's suggested quite a few, but they do seem pretty well differentiated. Possibly the last three could be merged, and the two experience forums. (Am I the only one who finds other people's trip reports insufferable? Words just never do them justice to me. It's a bit like when people crap on to you about their dreams. "You had to be there."
Yeah, I'm with obliguhl, I know mescaline is fantastic, though we'd need then to do the same for harmalas (makes more sense even before cacti/mescaline) and so on.. It's true the DMT nexus is focused essentially on n,n-DMT, then the rest of entheogens. But it's fair as long as it's called the dmt-nexus. Smell like tea n,n spirit !
perhaps we could arrange all substances by category and when clicked each category has its own subforums, as to not make the opening page so long and obnoxious. we might not need each category for each entheogen but for some, like cacti there are many subforums that would help govern the neatness of the posts @ obliguhl if we made the first page just categories and not subforums then the expanded list would be smaller than the current list, just the subforums would be within the categories of the first page. @ Infundibulum with a slogan like "entheogenic university" i think we should afford to host more room for growth within the site. id rather stay and participate with this community in regards to all entheogens than find another forum about specifically cactus. some animals only grow as large as thier environment permits, i think our data on cactus could be similar @ r2pi this was just a rough draft, right now its a bit overkill for limited info on cactus, but eventually this will solve having to rifle through tens of thousands of posts on cactus this and that. trip reports are going to happen, we might as well not muddle up the rest of the information with random reports, and whats more is its interesting to see how people are experimenting. @ r0m mescaline is fantastic. and yes if we had drop down/ subforums open when you access the category of entheogens it wouldnt really interfere with what it was your were looking for. let the harmala nuts have thier sections, just like the dmt enthusiasts. however it seems the main compounds extracted with a/b are dmt and mescaline, there is alot of mescaline extraction posts in other sections because it dosent really have a section. this would solve that issue.
I like the idea. I find better info here than just about anywhere else about cacti. I like the idea about clicking on "cacti" to get to the subforums, so it does't bother others who don't share the interest. Either that, or maybe someone needs to start a forum about mescaline cacti? I know there's the coraboree or whatever, but I wasn't really seeing what I was looking for over there. Nagdeo
I might try something for this, this evening. It will involve cleaning up the front page of the forum quite a bit. Lets just see how that will look like. Kind regards, The Traveler
But what about mushrooms???? See where I'm going here? I'm not trying to be irritating. I'm not actually requesting more subforums for mushrooms and I have absolutely nothing against cacti. As stated above though, this being a DMT site, that's where the focus is. Groovy entheogens other than DMT already have their subforums, at what point would this expansion stop? Everything in the "Other Entheogens", to someone, is worthy of expanded forum presence. Is it the general interest of Traveler & members that the NExus eventually become an equal voice for all enthoegens? Just some points to ponder... either way, the site will still be great. I am with rOm here..if we did this for cacti it would not make sense unless we did the same for other entheogens like harmalas and mushrooms etc as just as many people are posting about them as cacti I think. Harmalas make more sense than any other actaully because they are more directly related to the whole DMT complex. With much needed underground reaserch being done on unexplored beta carboline ayahuasca analogue plants etc this is something that would be good to focus on if anything.. I am not saying I am for or against it..just making some points here to think about. Long live the unwoke.
it would be awesome to develop our other entheogen forums to the same extent weve expanded our dmt knowledge, i only brought up cactus because of my personal interest and because there isnt a better forum than ours with this knowledge base and community. we already have such great information, we might as well organize it a bit better.
its my opinion that dmt is one of a few different psychedelic entheogens, as are mushrooms, cacti, iboga, lsa seeds, etc. so why not facilitate their growth accordingly by adding drop down/openable subforums for those who are interested in expanding/organizing our knowledge.
i think it would be a pretty silly idea to have a mescaline-nexus, and a harmalas-nexus, etc.
we are using the slogan "entheogenic university" not "Dmt information with a splash of other entheogens"
not that this site isnt amazing, but lets say not this year or next, but in 5 years all of those subforums are going to be ridiculously cluttered and be much more labor intensive to organize/sift through. if we set a model for the future then it can be readily accepted vs only acting when its necessary.
Interesting idea.
I like the pragmatic approach of trial periods and tests of the idea.
Being an avid reader I have no objection to the erection of numerous subcategories for various plants and substances.
I don't think this can undermine the primary emphasis of the Nexus upon DMT, but I am unsure if it will make much of a difference in the long run.
Still the nexus does have a lot of original material to offer in terms of cacti and various teks, a format that has the potential to make accessing such information easier seems like a potentially good idea, and not just for cacti, though I don't see it as broken or needed fixing.
