Over the past few weeks, I recently discovered that a few good friends of mine are also have interest in chakras (from their parents or like me, grandparents), although there appears to be a disagreement.

First off, I'm almost certain that to open a chakra and to clear a chakra are two different things (you can't clear one if it's not first opened if that makes sense).

The disagreement is that to open/clear the chakras, one would require help from an expert (guru or whathaveyou), and that it is impossible to do so alone, this has my friends in disagreement with themselves... I've tried to play 'referee' so to speak. We've pretty much agreed to disagree and moved on since it was last brought up...

We know what they are and the locations and the colors associated with each one and the basic ideas over what each one's energy deals with, i mean sure we have different names associated for each one (i usually just number them or call them by their color), but 'what's in a name? that which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet'.

I'll be honest, I haven't done enough research into chakras to offer an educated or valuable opinion. I think Antrocles would be your best bet, as I believe that is currently what he is doing for a living. Maybe try sending him a PM.

I pretty much just smoke changa, meditate, and stretch/move my body in whatever position seems to clear out negative energy. Who knows, maybe I'm opening and clearing my chakras without know it. Either way, two hours of it and I feel great!

Thanks for the input, I'll PM Antrocles and see what he says on the topic.

I agree, half the time I feel like I clear them out with simple relaxation techniques and meditation.

My two cents......was a long post! I couldn't hijack your thread so I made a post in the advice for healing forum.

I never cared too much for chakras. They could be real or not, who knew? Well, I had a chakra opening/cleasing experience this past monday. By the time I got home, my throat was sore. Still is! The next day, I'm ill and vulnerable, my g/f freaks out, yells, slams things around and then packs up some things and leaves me.

Two nights ago I do pharmahuasca. The two mornings since then, I work up with my left eye crusted over and closed.

Well, I have some traumas and some issues and I have some toxic stuff inside me. Some parasites living in my aura. Since the chakra opening, the poison is working it's way towards the surface. the pharma seemed to have pushed things along further. I gotta keep the chi moving.

Sounds like after you had them opened up your body has been in a form of detox, I'll be sure to read your new thread... I don't care that you've hijacked mine.

Nah, this threads still on track. Thanks for actually reading mine btw.

About your original question....to me, it seems that if a chakra is truly opened, well, chi is flowing--as such, a bit of clearing would happen naturally, as a result of the opening.

However, if a chakra needs opening....then you'd expect there's blockage elsewhere in the system, as such, additional clearing may also be quite helpful. So it seems to me anyhoot.

Now about chkras themselves. My reiki teacher told me they have an intake and an outtake. Energy entering from the front, exiting the back. To me, this concept is downright odd. Chakra means wheel, as such you think of a disk. By that's too simple, so I always thought more of a sphere...well, I've been thinking a lot of tori lately

Could each chakra have a tous shape. Like this:

The picture would have to be rotated, if it was to fit into the front back scenario the teacher described to me. Or sit just like in the photo, in order to facilitate movement between the main chakras, kundalini and stuff. Idk. Maybe the things move--whakra means "moving wheel" or wheel or "turning" right....

from what i've studied, there is no such thing as a "closed" chakra. they are energy toruses and they can never be shut completely. energy in the chakric systems can be 'excessive' or 'deficient' but always in relative terms. there is an ideal balance that we strive for with chakras that enables all to function and support the others. having a super active third eye chakra, for example, without the support of a fully balanced and stable root chakra can cause all sorts of psychic suffering.
read more about chakras and the symptoms of their deficient and excessive states on my website: www.athunderoussilence.com . go to the 'chakra-tuning' page and click on any of the 7 chakras to learn more.
as for the original question: one can work on their own chakric systems but, like all modalities of healing, you need to study and understand the chakras and what effects them (color, sound, aroma, emotion, geometry, etc..). no gurus required... Pleased

Thanks everyone for the input!

Bedazzle - I feel like describing chakras as having a torus shape to be accurate as well

antrocles - Your website intrigues me, I'll need to look through it all when I have more time, definitely bookmarked
