Hey all, this is a video worth checking out, re multiple dimensions and string theory http://www.ted.com/index...e_on_string_theory.html

Thepiratebay.org has the 3 episides of this. It's ' the elegant universe ' from pbs's nova series. I have spent the last couple years obsessed with quantum physics and it's something I think everyone here would be fascinated with. This 3 part series is very good it doesnt do justice to the book however which delves deeper but it's a great intro I reccomend you watch the series and then read the book. If you don't sin, Jesus died for nothing.

It must be the new thing to mention the wee people these days......... Especially in serious string theory lectures.... All of the posts made are hypothetical and for educatiunal/entertainmint purposes only. SWIM (a fictional chaaracter) and his activities are completely fictional.

DMT brought me directly to quatum physics. Hadn't even heard of it but after my first few spice rides back in february i knew i had to read about something paranormal, and ended up on quatum physics since it's actually science, an easy step to make for a skeptic. Now after reading at least 30 books on quatum, biology, chemistry, ai, etc. including one by Greene, i am a skeptic of nothing at all. Fascinating indeed and effects of DMT feel related in some way.

They certain do don't they =P I am a science geek myself. I think a lot of DMTers are......... All of the posts made are hypothetical and for educatiunal/entertainmint purposes only. SWIM (a fictional chaaracter) and his activities are completely fictional.

what are some good, relevant books to get started with in this area? I've become a bit fascinated myself but want to take it kind of slow. I'm looking for books that do a good job of delivery the message in layman's terms (somewhat anyway).

The elegant universe by brian greene is IMHO one of the best books getting you deep into quantum physics but in a way that just about anyone can understand. As I said above watch the 3 episodes to get a basic grasp and then grab the book. The book goes into infinite more detail but it's one of the very best out there in teaching you quantum physics in a way you can understand. Also This berkeley webcast is a laymans intro to physics with a good few classes into quantum physics as well. It's not really technical and you can just sit and watch and learn a whole lot I have watched them all many times over. http://webcast.berkeley....php?seriesid=1906978515
Keep in mind string theory is evolving constantly it's now known as M-theory. This is the very cutting edge of science. I have been eagerly waiting for the LHC to fire up. Unfortunately they had a setback a few months ago and it wont be until fall till they get it going again. We have already received many benefits from the LHC(CERN) like the internet. Yes al gore did not in fact invent the internet. Although the basic applications and guidelines that make the Internet possible had existed for almost two decades, the network did not gain a public face until the 1990s. On 6 August 1991, CERN, a pan european organisation for particle research, publicized the new World Wide Web project. The WWW project was intially created so that scientists at CERN could send research data efficently to scientist all over the world. This happened just in the development imagine what will happen when they actually turn it on. If you don't sin, Jesus died for nothing.

I am all for doing this research but realize string theory completely lacks any experiment evidence. Its only math that is not complete. It will be awesome is some experimental evidence comes up though! It would totally break the field open.
