I was gonna post this somewhere else but figured some new members might have a review on this helmet. I have never worn any of the Alliance series helmets, so I dont know how good it will fit my head. I am considering purchasing this helmet, but have to order it as no one is carrying this helmet in stock, nor any of the alliance series. The inside shape is a long oval design, but I am not sure if this style is a good fit for me or not.

ICON Alliance Nikova -

What appeals to me the most with the graphics is the eyeball with wings placed approx. where your third eye would be while wearing this helmet. Thought this was AWESOME. I really like the quality Icon seems to put out, and the alliance series are more affordable than some of the others like the airframe ($500+)

Was wondering if anyone has any experience with the alliance series or any Icon helmets, that they could share with me. As with choosing a street helmet one should be very picky with fit and quality.

Also don't know how many members are street riders, chime in if you are atleast.

Thanks! The eyeballs really resonate with me as far as my experiences with DMT so far, and the fact that it has them all over ESPECIALLY in the third eye location it stood out big time.

There are a couple helmets that make me wonder if some of the designers are psychonauts, like the alliance HeadTrip where in the description they say this at the end...

I ride dirt. Not competition, just exploring the deserts of CA. Found many great wonderous things.

Boots and helmets I am picky about. I have no idea about this helmet, but I have tried on MANY, and found when you spend 300-500$ they are all pretty damn nice and fit well, unless you have a weird shaped head!

Boots is something I guess not really important for street, but vital in the dez.

Ya i really would like to spend the bucks for a top of the line helmet, there are some sick carbon fiber helmets in the $700-$1000 range. Super light which is important, and strong. But my current helmet has to go soon, as I got it just so I could ride and its an extremely cheap helmet. Don't really want to spend $500 right now unfortunately.

Actually boots are pretty important for street. The concrete isnt very forgiving and you can snap an ankle fairly easy. Street riding gear is some expensive stuff. A decent jacket is gonna run you $180-$500+, helmet $200+, Pants $150+, gloves $100+, and boots $200+. Atleast the bikes get awesome gas mileage!

I seem to recall a comparison done in Cycle World several years ago, and at THAT time, HJC was the way to go. They're affordable, which is always nice, but the protection they offer is still excellent, which is of course the main concern with a helmet.

There was also some talk in the comparison about how certain brands would make claims like "super lightweight", when in actuality their helmet was only an ounce or so lighter than the others. As I said, though, this was years ago, and I'm sure there have been advances in manufacturing/materials since I last shopped for a helmet. I ended up going with HJC, myself, and I never had a complaint.

I DO like the graphic on the helmet you're looking at, though. I just wouldn't choose a helmet based on that.

I agree that shopping for safety equipment shouldn't be based on looks. I have always liked What I've heard about Icon, and they are a well established company as far as quality. That was my basic reason for looking through some of their helmets. I've worn one icon helmet before. Don't know which one it was but it felt awesome. It was an older line by them though so I don't know how the alliance line compares to the one I wore.

The carbon fiber helmets are super light. Less than half the weight of a normal polycarbonate helmet. Also carbon fiber is much stronger. I wish I could afford a carbon fiber helmet.

But ya, so basically I would like an icon helmet and this one stood out the most.
