Hey all

i purchased a established Phalaris arundinacea (green) Plant, and when i look in my back yard it looks almost identical to the plants growing in my backyard like grass, so i thought id post a photo up to see if anyone can recognise anything.

i have also included several other photos of plants in my backyard incase if someone notices a DMT source

top pic looks like phalaris.
check to see if it has a prominent ligule membrane.

but if it looks identical, and it tends to grow in clumps, chances are you got phalaris.

from what i have seen phalaris arundinacea and canariensis look identical except for slight color difference, and different flowers, so presumably other phalaris could look identical.

so you might want to wait for the grass to flower to I.D.
the phalaris up here is flowering right now, so it can't be far off for you (presuming it already happened you should be able to find some old ones.

do you want a more detailed photo, how can i confirm if it is DMT containing phalaris?

this is a pretty good sign it is phalaris.

more detailed photos definitely would not hurt.
my guess is the only way to determine precisely between species would be to wait for the grass to flower, but honestly i am not sure.

here are more photos. i just took abit of it from my backyard, like i said they grow in clumps, and look like phalaris, but i just need confirmation.

Top one looks like cattails to me, but it's hard to tell, and I don't really know grasses (or plants in general, for that matter).
Middle one looks a lot like rhubarb. Maybe they're related?
The bottom photo looks like rhododendron.

Take those suggestions with a grain of salt. I don't even know why I responded. Hopefully somebody with a better eye for plants can help with second two.

what do you mean by flower? do you mean those tall/thin yellow flowers that you chew the end of it and it taste sour but nice

The pic where you are holding it and it has been peeled back. I can see the little gill type thing there. It was hard to see at first. But you peeled it too far back. Theres a gill that was attached to the blade near the stem. If you see that then it is most likely the one. Endlessness and Jamie are experts on this. Maybe PM Jamie or endlessness and point them to this page. Then you will get a forsure.

But if it was me and I have them growing it my area, I would say it is it. Thats the one. Plus pick that 4 leaf clover while you are at it! Oh and if you see elves in your spice, it is the location you picked it that made show up!

those are DEFINITELY not phalaris flowers (at least not arundinacea, canariensis, or brachystachys).

arundinacea flowers look like the flowers i linked.
i can't tell you what plant that is.

the yellow flowers are the clover flowers. go look at them closely

its too hard to tell what that grass is from those pictures.

but after looking more closely, those aren't the flowers of the grass...

the grass should send a stalk out of the leaf sheath with a flower of some sort.

still a good chance this stuff is phalaris, but you really need to take some better pictures (or buy a phalaris and compare it to the grass you have, as i did.)
